UV protection for car/truck windows.

I got some of this for my signs I make in Papilio ink jet vinyl. They only last about a year so I got some of their clear vinyl to protect new signs I was making to replace old ones. Extends life up to 3 years, they say. I think I’ll try it on some new car windows that I leave out all the time. THey really go to pot pretty fast, even with a spray UV coating. Figured this was worth a try. I have quite a few cars/trucks still in boxes due to what the sun does to the windows in them.

Good idea.

I ran out of the vinyl and when I ordered more I ordered the laminate too, just to check it out. Hope it works.

Keep us posted. I put some clear styrene in some building windows and they all crazed and fogged up. I would have prefered using real glass, but I needed something thinner then the glass I had, so I went with the styrene. If I could replace the styrene with styrene protected with something that works, I will.

Well someone remind me this summer sometime how it’s going, old brains you know…

Jerry, yours is maybe the youngest “Old Brain” I know of … Just sayin’.

They do make a UV protected clear acrylic.

But that doesn’t keep inkjet printer ink from fading. Ask me how I know…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Ok Rooster, they who? What thicknesses? Where does I git some?

The UV acrylic would be fine in cars with flat windshields, but not for curved, so the film might be the best bet for that, just have to wait and see.
