USAT Caboose Trucks

Hello from Germany,
this is my first post on Large Scale Central.

I have a USAT extended vision caboose in UP colours. A nice model besides the trucks. They are the old plastic freight car trucks with cast on coil springs. The newer center cupola caboose is offered with “CabooseStyle Trucks”. That means more prototypical trucks with leaf springs. Does anybody know where to order these trucks as spare parts?

Peter

The factory/retail store web address is www.usatrain.com and www.charlesro.com they are a funny bunch. sometimes very friendly and helpful sometimes not so much.

I wish there was a “like” button so I could “like” Larry’s post…So true.

Mike in parts @ USA has been very helpful to me. I have experienced Larry’s observation in the store, I forget her name?? I hope they have the trucks being that this is a new model. Let us know how you make out. Welcome to LSC.

I think Mr Ro’s business has been plenty fair considering my personal dealing’s?

They do have the trucks you are looking for in stock. I bought a set for my (new) falling apart Aristocraft Brass caboose. Did i mention this was a NEW falling apart 350.00 piece of ----- that i had to spend another $50.00 to get it working… I luv this Hobby… Nick

Tank you so far! I´ll try to order by e-mail.

Nick, do you mean Aristocraft or Accucraft. Do they have a specific Parts No. for the replacement trucks? I just need the frames and not the complete trucks.

Peter,

Aristocraft made a Pennsy NE5 Brass caboose a few years back in 1/29th, Everyone I know that has one has the same issues. They fall apart

due to poor soldering and assembly. Anyways I dont know if you could buy just the frames or not from USAT, I bought the complete Trucks

with wheels. Try calling Mike in parts at USA, He’s the man… USAT keeps a great spare parts inventory.

Nick…

I contacted USAT and got this reply: “Sorry, these are not available as separate parts. Our manufacturer in China was supposed to make us extra trucks but they did not”. Any other suggestions? What about Aristo Long Tender Trucks? Will they fit?

Huumm…Perhaps Nick could give you the part # and you could call them back with the # …I always ask for the part # but I don’t see it on their site.

Hey Doc, Welcome Aboard.

Today I just realized that I have a Bachmann caboose in my dead line with leaf spring side frames. So Bachmann could be another option if you are unsuccessful with the USA stuff.
