USA Trains Train Power 10

I am new to G gauge and I want to step up from my Bachmann 1 amp starter set power supplies and throttles.

What I am thinking of getting is the USA Trains 10 AMP WALKAROUND CONTROL POWER SUPPLY.

What do the ‘experts’ think are the pros and cons of this unit?

I expect to stay analog and would like enough power to run two trains on the same block. My four locos are all Bachmann Big Hauler 4-6-0’s of three different generations (all track powered). I have 12 freight cars and 4 passenger coaches.

That looks like the old MRC.
Should be fine.

You will get a lot of opinions on this one…1st question you should ask yourself is what do You plan to do with your layout. If your layout will be indoors then I would say for your needs the ‘Train Power’ will be more than enough for your needs, way more. The ‘walk around’ controler is still a hard-wired unit and is not a wireless remote…Fine for indoors.

A reasonable alternative might be the MRC units such as the “Control Master”, also a ‘wired’ walk around.

So much depends on your future plans, DC, DCC, etc. Think about where you want to be 1 or two years down the road and plan accordingly.

We bought one of these for a kid over the winter, seems to be holding up well running a couple of

LGB Gennys with lights, they are a good price.

So far I don’t see any ‘cons’ for me. Thanks for your replies guys.

Welcome Joe

Thanks David

I received the Train Power 10 and I am satisfied with it’s operation. I did have to open the hand control, as the momentum pot was working backasswards! A simple solder job to reposition a wire and it’s good to go.
