USA Trains price increase at end of Month

Just a FYI, USA Trains will have a 5 to 10% price increase at the end of the Month.

Only “some” of the items will go up, but not all. Its been reported on other Forums that

there’s going to be some kind of Hobby life changing price increase, that’s incorrect as

usual.

I hope this doesn’t spiral downhill like the Bachmann topic!

Why would it, it’s clear and the facts are correct. No speculation …

…winking…

It’s happened before. Chuckie tries not to pass along every hiccup. I still get the dealer alerts, this one didn’t cause me any concern.

It always amazes me that given USA Train’s ‘reliability’ record and annual price increases that the company continues to slide under the radar and not draw the emotion that other manufacturers attract. USA Trains devotees seem a very quiet bunch who just seem to get on with their trains and accept all and sunder that gets manufactured.

In so far as conversations “spiralling downhill”, well, without criticism manufactuers would sit back fat, dumb and happy and never change their ways. Some prefer the status quo and as the saying goes, “lump it or leave it”. The thing is many are not inclined to ‘leave it’. Who benefits? - we all do (including the manufacturers)!

I don’t think there is an “accept all and sunder” attitude with people who own USAT trains.

There are few flaws to USAT locos, and well known ways to correct them.

A big difference is that today’s F3 works just like the F3 from years ago.

USAT does not change the boards, electronics, wheel contour, back to back, socket location etc. EVERY time they make a new production run, like Aristo.

Bachmann also has been playing with electronics quite a bit too, although they seem to be improving.

Mr Ro is a very knowledgeable and smart businessman who is well respected by me !

David,

did you run out of ‘smilie’ icons?

Tim

Yes, but there is a container ship arriving in port today with a fresh load

It really shouldn’t, but …

Isn’t it interesting that Aristo, Bachmann and USAT are all made by the same OEM in China. IMO that indicates that USAT has a) a better design department, b) knows how to impress on the OEM that quality is important, c) keeps on top of the process.

When a price increase rolls around at least the consumer can rely on consistent quality.

PS @ Rooster From what I heard they have been recalled, they shipped smirks instead of smiles!

Your mileage may vary…I have had pretty bad luck with USA engines. I accept it, fix it, and move on. I would buy more of their products but they do not typically offer what I am most interested in. That said, I have a fair amount of their stuff, I love the level of detail (though the lack of interior in their “modern” cabooses is a bit of a bummer).

My glasses have clear lenses.

Edit: I would like to mention, My USA SD-40 is probably my favorite engine of my entire lot. USA is an excellent value.

You are correct Hans, USA Trains out of all the Manufactures has gotten it rite.

Like anything else prices will rise but as some have posted they keep making reliable products and as said do not make changes every time a run is made. So helps in some way to keep cost down. QC is so much better than AC and BM. Maybe these folks should take lessons from USAT. Later RJD

They also actually stock parts, and can reliably ship out same. This concept seems to escape other builders regularly, and is a huge factor in market perception .
