I was wondering if anyone out here has a unused main board for the USA S-4 laying around that you don’t want anymore . Mine burnt out .
Ro says they have them in stock Mike?
Part # R22-581
Nice to see you are still alive though!
Thanks Mr. Rooster about the part number . Yup still building train cars and such . Don’t post as much but I like to check in from time to time .
I’ve got one, message me your address and I’ll mail it to you, no charge. Jim
Thanks Jim !!! I will message you .
I’m betting that you burnt out the board because the engine derailed and one set of wheels went on to the opposing rail creating a short through the engine. Though the power supply was fused, the fuse was too big to protect the delicate traces on the USA circuit board. I know, because this has happened to me with several of their engines of various types.
When you replace the board, put polyswitches in the wheel contacts for at least one (front or rear or both) set of trucks to avoid this in the future. I use 2-1/2 amp polyswitches in my USA offerings.
Rather than replace a burnt board, if it is not too bad, I’ll jumper over the burnt traces. If it is really bad, I just pull the board and “hard wire” everything. In fact, I just did this to a NW-2 (same trucks) retaining the existing switches under the radiator grill.
I’ll mail it Monday. Jim
Thanks Todd . It was smoking . Electronics have never been my thing i’m sorry to say .
Thanks Jim for the board !
Thanks Jim , I received the parts today . You went above and beyond .
