USA motor block question

I got a USA motor block that I could not get to work. Then I read the motor block info on the Climax build, in the modeling forum. I shorted across the pins on the back and now it works! Sure love this forum! Now, the side frames I got off ebay have some wires with small pins on them. Do I hook them to those shorting plugs on the back, or where do they go to? Are they to hook to the lights, or what?

Jerry

There are 4 pins on the motor block. When you hooked the pairs together, you connected the pickup to the motor. The wires form the side frames provide additional pickup connections. You could connect them to the existing wires.

Thanks BIll,
So those wires from the side frames should hook to the plugs I put on the pins in the motor block?

Jerry

That’s true. When you have the whole locomotive, the wires from the side frame are connected to the wires that go to the axle pickups in the motor block. Those wires go the circuit board inside the locomotive.
