Maybe you know already , but –
Do not open any "Invitation " headed email .
If you open it , you will see a picture of an olympic torch which burns away whilst wrecking your hard drive .
Mike
The word Olympic when used in that context has a capital O.
You haven’t been saddled with 20 quid a year fine for the privelelge of hosting the 2012 olympics .
olympic it said , and olympic it shall remain .
We had that “honour” in 2000.
We are still paying for it.

Are you telling us that you opened it? And then watched the HDD “go up in flames”??
I have no idea how others do it, but between Norton, Spamkiller and using YAHOO (with a spamkiller) for “leisure mail” we have been lucky, garbage like what you mentioned doesn’t even show up!
The version of Spamkiller used still has the “Shoot on sight” sound effect, great entertainment!
No , Hans , but I really wouldn’t think of it as a hoax , if that’s what you have been told .
Better safe than sorry .
Mike
ps
as an afterthought , if I have been “had” by a hoax , I still maintain it is better not to ignore warnings and also let others know . I first heard of this in February .
Welllllllll, the way I see it: the bug and hoax warnings are sometimes as peculiar as the garbage that gets sent around.
Vigilance, in addition to AV and SPAMeliminator SW, is the best remedy.
I quite agree , Hans , very wise .
Mike
Mike… why would you open “any” email you are not familiar with??
Timmy, He probably does that only on days when he feels frisky and adds a bit of spice to his life.

YUP!.. that could certianly add some spice…
Those among us possessed of a non too brlliant facility for divining the written word may be tempted to read anything put in front of them .
Such as scribblings on a lavatory wall .
Mike
It’s a hoax.

What’s so hard about checking these things on Google before wasting bandwidth?
More spam is generated by unneccessary virus hoax warnings than by people trying to tell me my willy is too small & trying to sell me Viagra.
(It isn’t & I don’t need blue pills)
Phil ,
There is an implied criticism in your post . I hope I am wrong .
Mike
Call 'em as you see 'em, Mike. Those of us who have been on the net for a decade or more don’t forward warning messages until verified, otherwise it’s just spam.
Google, then, if positive, then post. If negative, don’t.
Have a nice day.
PS, hope it cools off for you up there in the Old Dart, we have close to freezing…I reckon if we average your C.39 & our near C.zero we would both be comfortable
Phil ,
You just hit the nail right on the head . Us clever blokes who have all this experience don’t need warnings .
Good for you .
Now let those of us who think of others possibly getting a problem carry on doing what we think is right .
Intellectual snobbery does not sit well on anyone’s shoulders .

Was/is it you who had/has all the 'puter problems or is my memory going on the Fritz??
Yes , Hans , 'twas I .Or me if you want the correct grammar .
Why ?
Mike
…winking…
“is my memory going on the Fritz??”
Odd.
I always thought your memory was on the Hans…
