Upscale Aristo 0-4-0

I’m just getting started on this. Fitting a C-16 cab on an Aristo 0-4-0. I hope this will make it scale a little better with my B’mann 10 wheelers. Ralph

That does look better. I see you have one with the evil plated drivers. Mine does too. Its sits awaiting a future bash and either new version drivers or simple battery power.

TOC also mentioned the lousy plated drivers awhile back. Said he had to give it away.
Of the two I have, the RC loco with the plated drivers runs much better.
Go figure.

I’ve had all kinds of ideas about bashing it. In the end I decided this would be an easy and simple fix.

Great Idea, makes it much more “Fitting”

Yes, it does look better proportioned with the taller cab

I am making a little progress. Put in windows. I covered two front windows. The firebox was tall enough to get into them. Painted the smokebox flat black. The firebox, domes etc. are Rustoleum Black Night Metalic. I like this paint. Still have a lot of touch up to do. I’m debating what I’m going to do with the drivers. Paint is one option. I like the way this is turning out. My other 0-4-0 will get the same treatment. Ralph

Sure did. Still have one left to do. Ralph

They’re fun to bash… Did this one last fall

Did this one about 7 years ago, and reworked it this fall

Are you going to add the leading wheels Ralph? If so, what will you ese?

I really hadn't thought about it. I do like Mik's, but I'll probably take the easy way out on this first one. Maybe do a pilot truck and cowcatcher on the next one. Ralph

The former RC Cola 0-4-0 is out of the paint shop. I still need to blacken the wheels. Engine and tender both. Don’t like the “glass”. But I didn’t have anything else handy. Ralph

We save that for the cabs and cars. Red bird on red paint doesn’t fly  Ralph

Clear Mylar sheet is getting harder to find. I used to get report covers with the clear fronts when I ran low… now they’re mostly some kind of vinyl crap too. Sure it resists creasing, but it’s too thick and soft to work well…

Plastic picture frame sheets at the craft store Mik.

Colorado Models sells 8.5 x 11 sheets of thin plexiglass/lucite for a buck. Cuts with scissors. I just used it for the Forney and you can barely see it in there. I think I recognize that engineer!

The clear sheets is what I usually use on rolling stock. But I'm out. I'll redo the windows when I get some more.

Yep, the engineer migrated south. He keeps mumbling something about “that isn’t the way we do things up north”
