UP's 844 stops for maintenance in Lex

On the way back from display in Omaha, at the College World Series, 844 made a maintenance stop here in Lexington, NE.

I got up on the pedestrian overpass for some overhead shots.

Zoomed in for some detail , may add to my 844 build.

Nice…

Great photos, Jerry.
Thanks for sharing

Nice photo’s Jerry. I thought 844 was going to be down for major repair because of the flat spots on the drivers? I heard they had a computer/operator problem that caused the diesel’s to push 844 while her drivers were locked.

Chuck

It was really fun to see/hear it again.

Chuck, it did flatspot, there were some pix online of it sitting in Texas with no driver’s. They sent 4 to one place and 4 to another to get them turned. It will be back here in Nebraska for North Platte’s Railfest.

The Challenger is down for repairs for years yet, I heard. It’s in the shop in Cheyenne.

Thanks Jerry,

Wish they would bring that beauty to the Spokane, Washington terminal. Don’t get to see very much UP stuff, lots of BNSF as it runs right behind one of my friend house on the old NP and SP&S lines going to and from Spokane. Actually I’m hopeing that the BNSF will do their employee passenger train out this direction next summer. My son-in-law is an engineer for them, maybe a good ride. I can only wish!!!
