Unique Railbus from the 1920's

http://youtu.be/m9hENL2jBRA

Push-Me Pull-You rail car footage from the 1920’s, this is really a unique railbus idea

COOL! some Lil’ Big Hauler Cars and a couple of 1:24 Banks?

Where was that taken? Any ideas? Lots of “Silver Springs”.

From the U tube site:

An interesting railcar operating in the Florida Everglades, seen taking tourists to Pelican Island.

Thanks Steve, I’ll have to look that up. Currently on the coast by the Everglades.

…and probably bitching about getting eaten alive by mosquitoes…Ahh, Ric, look out for those 'gaters too…!!

It makes sense though. That thing doesn’t need a turntable or Wye to go back where it came from.

Designed by Fairlie?

Right up your alley, Vic.

No mosquitoes, this time of year, Fred.

Looked at the Silver Springs site, which brought up a “Warhawk Reproductions” group of prints. Wow! 11 pages of interesting photos all over the Country.

Check out “Evans Products Auto Train”, B&O RR Yard Tractor DT-1" and many other interesting stuff. Lots of rail busses, inspection cars, buggies and rail cars.

Cool stuff.

Very cool!!

Ric, great pics there! I have seen a pic of the Auto Train, but never that angle, might have to build something like this  Also liking the Pennsy road tractors, also on the project list!

http://www.colonelstephenssociety.co.uk/Modelling%20Railcars.html (You may have to copy the link into a search line as trying it from this page it does not seem to work as a direct link…but worth it as there are plans of rail uses you could modify) hi these are similar to those run on various UK lines by Col Fred STEPHENS especially on the Kent and East Sussex. the above link should take you to the Stephens Society pages just for fun also look at the Irish narrow gauge sites also. loved the film…like the double wheels, and back to back seems fun…must link up my rail cars like that

Try this link folks:

It will be seen that the full name of the illustrious Colonel was Holman Fred Stephens. There is a wealth of interest here for the more quaint UK railways which served many rural communities.

One attribute of his railways was the ‘make do and mend’ criteria applied to keeping the railways operational. I am sure many modellers here would go along with that.

Hi Alan, thanks for that…fixed the link now (teach me to try and do it all off the ipad)

This link takes you stright to the section on railcars

I ascribe to the make and do also

This is on Evilbay. Don’t know if it qualifies as a rail bus, but it is unique.

It qualifies, just the picture needs to be resized a bit…

(800x600)

Some may get the hump and say it’s a camel back?

…and some may call it an “Inspection Engine”

Nice kit bash
