Union Pacific \/Rio Grande Paint color

Does anyone make a paint in a spray can that is close to the Union Pacific Yellow Or the orange that some Rio Grande engines have. The striping on my Aristocraft RS3 is an orange. I am doing a caboose and want to reproduce on or the other of these.

I’m pretty sure Jerry Barnes knows.

Thanks

Maybe you could look at a color chart and pick one you like.

I have not found much spray cans that works and different train companies ideas of UP yellow are different. USA/Aristo/MTH are all different. But I have seen some UP locos on the track that are different yellows! Best bet is to take the one you want to match to a paint store, have them scan it and use an air brush. Can mix it pretty good with Scalecoat UP Yellow and a drop or two of Caboose Red and some Reefer Yellow. Did that for MTH anyway. The scan thing did not work real well for that, it seems.

Well, like the guy said at the LHS, who used to work in the Great Northern’s Hillyard paint shop, “We just used whatever we had in the shop, and sometimes we had to mix our own. Nothing ever really matched. Besides, after a couple of weeks in the sun, it started to fade, anyway.”

Take home message: Fussing over someone’s idea of UP Yellow or Omaha Orange is the surest way to insanity.
