U.S. Plans Law Enforcement 'Surge' On Trains

make sure your “G” Scale conductors are aware!

<><>

U.S. authorities plan a law enforcement surge this week along Amtrak routes, an exercise called RailSafe, and the heads of the country’s biggest mass transit systems were briefed today on the possible terror threat, all part of what is being called an abundance of caution.

everybody get ready!

You have to wonder what they hope to gain by announcing the exercise.
If they do it in Canada, they might catch HJ taking some photographs

Me thinks it has a great deal to do with Dumb Sheep and Evil Shepherd’s…

Howabout this:

ATLANTA – Federal agents launched a counterterrorism operation in Metro Atlanta for the third time in 10 days, inspecting every inch of a downtown Atlanta bus station.

3 operations in 10 day on same depot???..sumptin’ is stinking in ATL!

Last week it was I-20 X-ray stops for freight?

Given what happened in Spain and Britain better safe than sorry

The purpose of the announcement, and the surge, is to say, “Hey! We’re doing something so don’t cut our budget!” Has nothing to do with actually finding or preventing anything.

Hand every passenger a 9mm Beretta as they board and collect them as they leave the platform.

FL does that routinely at their Ag Inspection stops on I-95, I-75 and I-10…DOT has the authority to randomly stop any freight hauler and inspect the truck and any paperwork…

Ken, do they use the Backscatter X-Ray technology or simple stop and look?

http://www.as-e.com/products_solutions/zbv.asp

They’ll do both if something seems amiss…FL has a truck equipped with a boom that X-rays the contents of the trailer while you slowly drive the truck through…if they don’t like what they see, they can visually inspect the contents. Never had it happen to me, but I have heard of it being done.

I’m very, very old school (like 1880’s old school)… Those who want to carry can do so without any restrictions as per the 2A (no permits or other BS hoops). When a bad guys does something to endanger life put a round(s) in his chest so that he is 100% dead, dead, dead. That’s how I was trained as a USAF SP. My preferred carry piece (of a few I play with) is this sweet Detonics MkIV stainess .45acp. Ignore the .30-30 round. That was just sitting beside it when I snapped the pic.

@ Ken… I’ve had loads x-rayed three times by US Customs when coming back into the US from Canada. Canada Custom has x-rayed one load going into Canada. US Customs and USDA have done visual inspection three or four times. As for Florida I’ve got PrePass and usually get the green light.

Hmmmmm … yes I was a bit apprehensive the last time I went up to Salmon Arm railfanning. :open_mouth: CP “promised” to clamp down on security since two yahoos got killed by trains within weeks of each other. Salmon Arm is a notorious location for “the Clan of Stupid” playing chicken with the trains and/or just not being aware.
Since there are probably a lot of similar spots in the US and plenty of people of like mind (or rather lack there of) they don’t need to look for terrorists, they’ll find plenty of other yahoos who play havoc with rail traffic. Seems like an industry complete with the grief counseling that happens right after and the umpteen FaceBook pages that go up in remembrance.

Argh, I always wonder if it is the parents who should be smacked or the kids who need a spanking! Of course way before anything happens! :frowning: :\

As the Swiss proverb says: “There’s no ointment against stupidity!”

We run mostly up and down the East Coast, primarily down to FL hauling mushrooms and produce. The Agricultural Inspection in FL is where they do the X-ray and there's no by-pass for that place. We don't go into CA. Since this is just a small outfit, we don't have Pre-Pass or EZ-Pass.........yet.......although I wish we did.........;)

I drive for Conway Truckload so I go everywhere. I was in FL about three weeks ago. PrePass makes things easier.
