Holy Crap Batman… Thats differnt I like it a lot.

Great work!

Gordon:

Beautiful work!! And a very nice link to the construction techniques.

One question: Why are you working in 1/16 scale?

Happy RRing,

Jerry

Thanks guys for your comments. Jerry I started working in 1:16 scale way back in the early 70s. This scale is the easiest for me to covert. So if I need a 2x4 this is 2/16 x 4/16 or 1/8" x 1/4". The basswood I use comes in thicknesses of 1/32" a scale 1/2" 1/16" a scale 1" also 3/32, 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8, 1/2" 3/4". This is also true with other materials like styrene, brass tubing and shapes etc… I use quad paper to do all of my lay out ether 4-sq./in or 8-sq./in this gives me a scale 4" or 2" grid and makes this work go faster. I’m a model builder and not so much a model railroader. All my models are static and are scratch-built and 1:16 scale works out the best for my modeling. I also model in 1:24 scale.

Gordon:

Make sense to me!

Thanks again both for showing your excellent modeling capabilities and for sharing your techniques.

Happy RRing,

Jerry

Gordon, your models are amazingly realistic! Thanks for sharing. 1/16 is an excellent choice of scale. I do not know whether you care about gauge but if you do, 45mm, the gauge most of us use to run trains, closely corresponds in 1:16 with the most commonly used narrow gauge of 30 inch or 750-762mm. Precisely, it works out to be 720mm or 28 1/3 inch prototypical gauge which is really great for short lines or logging equipment. Most excellent work and scale choice! Best wishes from Tokyo, Zubi

I have posted photos of my last two out house dioramas over on my thread http://www.finescalerr.com/smf/index.php?topic=128.0 Go to page three to see the new work.

Very nice builds Gordon, great idea building in 1\16. I never realized how much it simplifies the scaling down and construction process!!! Dave

Dear Gordon,

When I scrolled down and saw the overhead shot of the seat lid, I in-stink-tively reached up to hold my nose.

Sorry, but that’s just a bit too real.
