Large Scale Central

Two Feet through the Bridges

a cornfield meet

The days after Christmas were bright, sunny and “warm” What better time to run trains…so I ran em all!

Well not all of em just the 7/8" scale stuff!

For the train spotters here is a list of the motive power

#1 is an Accucraft Fairymead…with added wooden pilot

#2 is a much modified Ruby

“morning STAR” is a much modified Accucraft Emma

the railbus is/was an Accuraft Dora

and the logging engine is scratch built powered by a Graham kit built engine.

Great video Eric. Went well with my morning coffee.

That was very enjoyable!

Great film ! I’ve been tempted, over the last few years, to model something in 7/8" scale. Still haven’t done much of anything however. 7/8" is close enough to 1" scale. Would it make much difference if I were to use a 1" scale rule? Dollhouses are 1" scale for the most part and it would seem that one could find alot of stuff to use from that source.

I liked that a lot. This is a very cool railroad. Love the buildings and the back woods locatoion. And your steam trains run at reasonable speeds!

Thanks for sharing.

Eric you have a terrific RR and some really neat equipment. I like how you combined many elements and angles in your video and then the editing makes for a very enjoyable movie.
The view through the passenger cars was neat but your track might need a bit of work through that section. I wouldn’t want to try and get to the other car if I was a passenger. !

Were you trying to post a photo above “a cornfield meet”? if so you need to remove any spaces in the URL for it to post properly.

Happy RRing

Very nice. I see you have a leaf problem like I do. But yours are clear of the right of way, unlike mine.

Outstanding video Eric! I always enjoy looking at your creations. The sound from your chuffers is terrific. Especially #1 at the slow speeds. Do you use any special microphones to capture that, or just the built in one on your recording devise? Thanks for posting!

Thanks guys…it was fun to do…hours of fun you might say!

Randy-- I just use my little digital camera…sometimes one of those knobby tripods sometimes just a block of stiff foam rubber with a slot to hold the camera. no fancy microphones or special effects beyond the fun installed on the trains.

Dan-- These are 7/8" rather than 1" scale. some stuff would work fine at 1" scale but it is bigger. 7/8" scale Maine Two foot gauge is pretty big as it is. some folks use 1" scale when modeling 18" narrow gauge on “O” gauge track and that works fine. There is a post today on the 7-8th.info forum about using 1" scale figures, some work some not so much. lots of the doll house hardware etc are suitable. Take the plunge it is fun making stuff in this scale!

John-- It is not easy to get those steamers to run realistically slow…You should see all the film clips on the floor around my computer!

Todd-- I see the image “cornfield meet” did you fix it or does my computer respond differently than yours? I copied the location of the photo from another forum…did that mess it up? sorry about that.

How do I post you tube videos so you see the preview?

Eric, this is a very well done effort. You have the eye for detail and atmosphere of an artist. The highest compliment that I can pay you is that it reminds me of my favorite live steam video “Day Trip to Duck End”.

You copy the “Share” URL from YouTube and paste it between *** without any spaces.

Eric,

Impressed with your work, thanks for sharing.

Great video Eric. Love the larger 7/8th stuff. Makes a big difference. Hard to believe no snow up your way. Its been dry here as well.

That is a really good video Eric and an excellent music selection.
