Large Scale Central

Two cabeese models

I have been working on patterns for two different caboose models for a few years now. Actually, I started and almost finished them a few years ago, then put them away. I took them out again two weeks ago and finished the bigger of the two. Now I am working on the small one.

The first is a model that is based on the Quincy & Torch Lake #04. It was a coach/caboose. Mine uses the Bachmann closed trolley body as a basis. All of the parts needed are mostly cast in resin with a few being styrene and wire. I even cast the draft gear sills for either kadee or link and pin if so desired. This is a cupola type caboose.

The second is a little 4-wheel model that is as close as I could get it to the prototype; Ferrocarril Mineral De Chihuahua. The caboose still exists today on display in a park. This one is all resin castings with a couple of pieces of wood and wire.

Both cabeese are interesting models, but I don’t know if there would be any interest in these as kits for large scale. Is there any???

Tom,
Post a few pictures.

I will Ralph as soon as I can. The little one has a few more things waiting to be done on it yet.

It all depends on the model, I’m curious about the bobber caboose, like Ralph asks, post some pics and see what the responce is.

I think the caboose based on the bachmann trolley sounds pretty cool!

I’d be very interested in seeing the smaller one as well. Chances are I would purchase one, if not both kits if offered.

I find this one interesting. I had always wanted to build a combine type caboose after seeing one on Dave Goodsens layout. The trolly body sounds even more interesting.

I will see if I can take some photos in the next couple of days. I have always had great problems in trying to post photos here though. Is there someone I can send them to to post for me since my computer skills are sorely lacking?

Tom,

The easiest way I have found…

You open an account at Photobucket and upload your photos there (very easy).

They have a box with each photo page that say’s “IMG CODE”

Click on it and your photo is automatically copied in a “forum appropriate size”.

“Paste” it in your reply window on LSC.

Done.
