So the “Tweetsie” has a second steam engine? What is it? Thank you in advance for any info.

Cale,
That’s awesome! Family time is the best time and those pictures will last a LIFETIME!

Did that RR always paint their locos in that color scheme?

Yes there are 2 engines at Tweetsie…the Orig…ET&WNC #12, and #190 (Yukon/WhitePass) Yukon Queen purchased in the 1960’s.

The Queen is a smallish NG 2-8-2 Mikado…she is now the workhorse of Tweetsie, doing most of the work in the heaviest of the season. She also pushes Thomas when he is there for his annual visit (he is a non steam dummy engine).

According to my understanding the ET&WNC painted their engines in Green livery and polished brass, not real sure about the red accents…

here is a link to the Tweetsie history page…they know alot more about it than I!

http://www.tweetsie.com/about_us/history.html

also check the links at the bottom of the page----tons of info there too!

#12 is painted up to the Original Lettering and Colors as it were in 1957 when the park opened!

forgot to mention that the Queens sister runs at Dollywood…can’t remember her number though…

Thanks for the link, I’ve heard Tweetsie referred to many times but didn’t know anything about the railroad and park until now. Their repair facility is pretty nifty.

ur welcome! U may know that the Bachmann 10 Wheeler was based upon the #12 Tweetsie engine in 1:22.5…it is a pretty accurate representation minus the Oversize Pilot! We did get a nice tour thru the shop area (well I got to see most of it till the little ones got antsy)…the drop out track for repairing Drivers was nifty, along with the HUGE lathes…most are hold overs from the ET&WNC shops, that were converted to Ele motor Drives from the old belt drives in the original shop…if you visit my Webshot albums and look over the Climax photos, you may see that the Climax on display was restored by the Tweetsie shops a few years back before being displayed… Lot’s of history in these Blue Ridge Mountains…now if we could only get a Manf. to make us some Eastern Prototypes…like the Queen of the EBT Mike for instance! and a note from my Hometown for nearly 34 years (Spartanburg SC): During the late 1800s and the turn of the 20th century Spartanburg was often called “Hub City,” as almost 90 trains stopped or passed through daily.
