Turntable Find!

Fascinating! Thanks for the pics and info.

That Boeing plant isn’t exactly a Mom & Pop outfit, is it? HUGE!

So its funny the subject of turn tables came up. Steve and I were talking about the Spokane yard which has a turn table to know where and in addition it has a loop that travels around the turn table. Now likely there was a round house at one point but not anymore. So if it is still used it is only for turning locos but wouldn’t that be what the loop is for. Anyway it is interesting to see.

There’s that wyè I was telling you about, in the lower right, near the bridge.

OK I see where you were going. So not only do you have a turn table and a loop but the wye track is incorporated into the loop. How many ways do you need to turn something around?

First the turntable, when too big for that, off to the Wye and if that curve is too tight or you want to turn a passenger consist, then it’s off to the balloon track with you.

Notice where you end up if it’s the balloon, might be tricky to get back…

Thanks Craig for the rundown. Pretty cool to learn about other industrial moves beyond my own limited perview.
