NOT British Rail - there has not been such an organisation for many years. All the train companies in the UK are independent franchises, but the Preservation Groups who arrange such excursions depend on a blanket orgranisation called Network Rail from who all the franchises are obtained. It’s very hard to describe, but it gives the many rail compaines a chance topaint all their trains different colours…
