Not sure if this qualifies for this forum category, but I made a how-to video of how I made my tunnel portals and retaining walls from a 4 x 8 sheet of blue foam insulation purchased at Lowe’s. $11.00 made all the portals I needed for my layout.
Thanks for the video Mike, great idea and simple.
Chuck
Thanks Chuck,
It’s simple, quick, easy, convincing, and cheap. I love that kind of stuff!
That werks fer me, too…
Nice video, Mike. It seems you have the knack for putting information together in an easy to understand manner. Plus, they look great.
I built something similar quite awhile back, but it ended up being eaten by the squirrels.
Now you just need to detail the inside of those portals so they look awesome for your next video.
That is awesome, Mike…so simple and it looks great. Wow! Thanks for showing this!
Bruce,
Squirrel stew.

Thanks guys.
“Hey you dang squirrels, quit chewing my portals”
We have plenty of those creatures here in FL, but they are scrawny compared to PA squirrels. One tunnel was done last spring and haven’t had any issues YET!
Hokey smoke, Bullwinkle!
Here’s something I can actually do!
That was enjoyable to watch and easy to follow. Thank you
I was thinking that wire brush was going to wreck it. You made it look too easy! Thanks for sharing.
What I really need next, is to see how you cover your mountain. I need to build one outback that will survive these harsh winters up here.
Joe, I may put a video up about the mountains. I just finished Mt.Meterbox, and still have to paint it. I will start a new area of cliffs after that and I will video my technique.
I use chicken wire for the form. Then do the hard shell method using Quikcrete Sand finish mix. Add a second layer and draw an Xacto knife across while drying.
Excellent How-To video Mike.
And Mrs. McLaughlin said, “You didn’t do that on MY clean carpet!”
Thanks, Mike, That looks easy!
Thanks Mike
Great video, keep them coming…
