Tulsa "Maker's Fair"

Had fun at the Tulsa Maker’s fair yesterday. Phone battery went dead almost immediately, so you’ll have to content yourself with some photos Lisa took.

(Notice who is WEARING his shoes.)

So Tom,

What is the “Makers Fair” and what are you doing there?

Besides the obvious.

I was a little worried about this show as my concept of a “maker” is rather high-tech and I figured nobody would be interested in the trains. The trains were definitely a hit.

Other displays included a quilter, the Tulsa Glue Daubber’s model airplane club, quite a few cnc machines, lots of 3d printers, two ladies at a booth showing off Raspberry Pies, an Arduino guy, some High School kids with really cool robots they had built, a lady with home made soap…

…and quadcopters everywhere! A guy even told me where to get parts to fix mine. I have one of the tiny Estes ProtoX ones and one of the motors burned out a winding.

At Makr Faire in San Mateo two years ago I bought a 3d printer kit. It’s almost together, I’ve got to wire up the electronics, but the mechanical stuff is done. Then onto 3D printing for the Garden RR!

Makr Faire is a “geek fest” in the nicest sense of the phrase. Fun to attend, if only to watch!

Yes! It was much fun. The Arduino guy was impressed with my avr toys.
