Large Scale Central

Tucson Garden Tour

Last weekend was the Tucson Garden Railway Society Open house tour, 10 different layouts were open. Wife and daughter and granddaughter hit all 10 the layouts were all very nice and we had a great day, so now to see if I can make pictures appear

this home , the layout is in the front yard, and has miles of hand made wooden trestles very impressive

and a big surprise was the copy of John Passaro’s MIKS winner for 2016,

If interested I can add some more pictures

A copy of the mine, but not as good as the LSC winner.

A very nice layout indeed. Like the tropical feel.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif) Oh and like the fire tower.

Cool layouts. I love the trestles. Thanks for sharing Pete.

Oh yeah, the trestles are unbelievable. And the fire tower. What are they made of? It doesn’t look like wood. Maybe decking material? I think I kind of like the black look too.

Thanks for posting !

Loooks like a great crowd out to view them.

The trestles and all the others are redwood.

His train shed has leaded stained glass style windows, with real glass. I am looking but can’t find a picture of a scene on this layout a deck built around a cactus about 20 scale feet above ground with horrified on lookers looking at someone who fell off and is impaled on a long spined cactus below. this was a very detailed layout, all the bridges and trestles had fire barrels and places for workers to dodge trains, the work to build it took well over 15 years. And the whole thing is in his front yard.

Dave for a couple of seconds I thought I was at Johns layout. it was a suprise, but I was a little dissapointed that John was not there!

Oh yeah all structures have copper roofs, which has weathered beautifully

I’m guessing by the offset timbers that the staircase and method of egress has not yet been established on the fire tower yet …either way neat layout and I do like the tower (just don’t show Shawn )

I see stairs(or ladders) at every level of the tower, so I don’t know what you think you see!

You know what Joe …you are correct !

I see them now and here I thought my eyes were better than that. I guess I’m getting old!!
