Great work John. I dig that flooring. Waiting with anticipation to see your treatment for the roof.

Thanks this building is so outa square that I figured a diagonal pattern would hide that shortcoming…

I keep going to smaller twigs for cover, but it takes so many more. A friend brought over some pine needles, but when I said just the straight ones please, he indicated that I was SOL!

I was just looking for baby cactus, I might mulch a corner and start a garden on top…

Then again that clock keeps tickin’.

From a little acorn a big nut gets ideas…

At least I’m happy with it. Time will tell what Ma Nature wreaks…

A variety of various saplings and branches were laid across the main timbers, heavier trunks were cut to fit over that…

Lighter branches are laid over the deck and trimmin’s are laid over that to secure the mass…

My visitor returned, the wall was to keep the weather out, not be his hunting blind! Shot the pic from my front deck. Too close. It took 3 lady finger firecrackers to convince him to move on…

I’m close to being stuck with a fork…

Almost done.

John

I like your kitty

9" of Monster cable joined the build… Stripped and separated the remaining strands were looped over 2 timbers and twisted until the twigs were pressed into a mat. They are now bonded to the building. I like the look.

Til next time… might as well use the extra time…

John

I mentioned before that a loading door was never quite right… I was trying to ‘see’ a hinge that would allow a plug door to act as a ramp for lower vehicles; flatbed at deck and the ramp for a pick’em up truck.

Years ago I got a grab bag of structural shapes … a large piece of angle was soldered to the hinge tube, the angle was glued to the building. The hinge pin is soldered to the ramp door…

I’ll add the chains tomorrow…

John

I love it.

A couple more shots of the ramp in the down position… I was going to add chains, but that stuff attracts my critters.

I think I’m done, I’m more inclined to suggest the scene than spell it out. Let your mind’s eye add the frills… Same reason I nixed lights, hungry wire seeking rodents…

Winning is a state of mind, I’m glad I built this rock, but … I dunno every build is good. My prize is already on my pike.

It’s a brass door with wood treads, the hinge pins are L shape, one leg in the tube and the other soldered to the sheet. Angle iron was soldered to the edges. Upright it leans slightly inwards, you can see the open unsupported position.

Been Fun.

John

I agree John, I don’t care if I win. I really wanted a coal tower and the build got me off my butt to build it. Plus it’s so hard to choose because all the builds are fantastic.

While waiting for the sun …

The Gem and Mineral Show comes to town this time of year. All my ‘color’ comes from local abandoned mines…

We are proud of our Railroad Heritage as well…

Freaky!!! Someones missing a head? Where did it go?

Maybe he’s related to that ghost in the window of the upundertaker’s that Boomer captured last night!

#13 and the Headless Conductor … spooky…

A bottle rocket out of nowhere exploded and he froze in time.

Doug, he said he wanted to date that ghost of yours, though her hands reminded him of ET…

Saturday was a play day… thought the natives should have their own way to transport their wares … Thanks Aristo for the wheels…

Shot in today’s morning sun…

Thanks it has been fun.

RIP MIK

John

Great Job John. I imagine you dont have to worry about Ma Nature blowing it away.

No tie downs needed!

Great building! That bobcat is pretty cool too.

Double your pleasure, this afternoon, there were two snarling kitties under my deck when I charged outdoors to see the cause of the racket. It’s been hot here, probably has triggered rites of spring.

Thanks Ray, I am a mere grass hopper to the Master. I suggest illusions…

John

I’ve been following your build from the beginning and the walls came out great, I really love that roof a lot, and your door fits into the building perfectly naturally. All in all you pulled it together very well.

The extra details (I don’t know about that headless conducteo!) are wonderful. I’m fond of the gems and minerals…my children and I go to the show every year and this Christmas we put together a train made up ore cars loaded with different gems, minerals, and rocks. I like what you did!

One last note: I understand the grasshopper feeling really well. Somewhere about a month ago I saw how this Ray Dunakin duder dude turned styrene into wood and I’m like, oh, boy, have I got a lot to learn!
