I like it so far. The stone looks great. Definitely fits into the SW theme.
The deck is 3/4" thick plus reinforced corners. The interior floor will be wood as will be the back wall so I can stop it from getting too heavy and the back won’t be seen.
John
Well I was able to lift it by myself so I poured a plain back wall, just hardware cloth and cement, it will be mostly unseen.
As soon as it’s hard I can do the wood floor and add details…
Tipped her up and set her in the sun… I’m 63 and in decent shape and I could pick it up by myself…
To get it in place I slid it on a board…
When folks drive in they’ll see this on their left…
Now I get to add the details, I found 2 strings of Lemax street lamps that are easy to disect, the leds are orange like oil lamps…, a wood floor inside and the twig roofs.
The Depot goes up front between the tracks… next project…
See ya later.
John
John that is a REALLY unique structure, I love your tecnique, very original and very authenic looking.
That really matches your area old structures
Dennis
If you build it, they will come…
Was a sunny and warm day, time for a little play before making sawdust.
Thanks for all the kind comments.
John
you need Granny in a rockin chair on top of that…
Look closer, the only human is in a cage …
the laffin’ turtle will have to suffice…
A warm and sunny morning beckoned the carpentry crew, Sticky applied the TiteBond3 as Big John mauled home 23 ga pins… the lumber yard had cut and delivered the wood yesterday, it was an excellent order, only used part of the reserve floor plank. the Planks are 6x12" (a quarter inch holds the pins a lot stronger than trying scale wood) so bring on the heavy equip…
The guys manning the dollies requested the diagonal floor, they say it’s easier to avoid ruts…
So strong a dinosaur can dance on it…
The roof and some boxes or shelves to hide the floor gaps and junk … just might make the deadline.
You can see how the plan captured the final look! Just the details left!
More to come.
John
Thought it was time to paint the door and show it’s place…
The sun is setting on another day, more stuff to come…
John
Nice work John. I have often thought about trying to do a concrete building sometime…
I had to make the floor slightly undersized to get it past casting bumps, I kept the gap at the back and made up some shelves to cover it up… company color is Cinnamon must have got it cheap… was in my truck, where I keep 50% of my tools, a traveling handy man eh? It didn’t match the adobe as I had thought… store lighting, that’s it…
Oh yeah my wood pile is in my box too!
These twigs are closer to size, I will sleep on a way to secure them…
Had a visitor, elusive, yet determined he returned and waited.
A very healthy looking Bobcat, not a threat to me, it never snarled or acted tough, just looked sleek and beautiful. While I was inside, a jack rabbit was culled from my bird seed eaters… Later a RoadRunner skipped across the property… a beautiful sunny day.
Made 2 signs and sealed them, they go on tomorrow…
John
Love the colors.
Seems as tho’ a slight change has evolved… the sign board was larger than my letters…
In a nod towards native currancy a Pawn shop has been added to a corner of the freight house. When I first came here I noticed a large number of Pawn shops around town… So I built a smaller set of shelves and hooks to hold pottery, rugs and jewelry.
You can see the new shelves above on the right. The right side of the building will be set into a hillside so no steps or ramp are necessary.
The door is hinged to the frame. This last loading door keeps stubbing it’s toe, we’ll see where it goes.
Time to gather more twigs… so boring…
Thanks for looking. This is coarse scale modeling ya know.
John
Nice, and it’s different…
don’t make the mistake to post pics of this build over there on the other forum.
they would accuse you too of being a twigs and sticks - modeller and shunn you.
I love the Bobcat pic!! I would move there in less than a heart beat! I am a U of A alum and want to get back there as soon as I can but the wife can’t take the heat ya and I’m the king the what ever! Any way I like your RR. I would build mine higher old and it is hard to bend over!!

I would never, I’m still well despised ‘over there’ over a nickname…
