Aster A3 Kit (finished)

I really like the 241P , known as “The Mountain Class” I believe .

I suppose if I sold all my other stuff , I could afford the kit .

I would say “very well done” but the photos speak for the model and it would be stating the obvious .

Beautiful , just beautiful .

Mike

Mike, if I sold my HOUSE I couldn’t afford the 241P kit.

Ah , tac , one of the penalties of not having the false value of houses in London .

But I bet you’d like the 241P kit . And the others of course .

It is nice to see really good models like that , isn’t it ?

Mike

It is a true masterpiece, but bearing in mind that you’d also need the ten-twelve suitable coaches to go behind it, at around $1800-2500 each, I’ll give it a miss.

My new SET OF SIX Accuraft CPR cars are going to cost me less than just ONE of the coaches behind that lovely model.

I’d like to see the Adams Radial tank next from AccuCraft, and talking to Messrs Pearse and Cheng last month, it’sd highly likely, and won’t cost a kidney either.

tac , that should look nice . I take it they’re to run with your Hudson ? That by itself looks pretty .

The nearest I have to a "proper " train is a Glacier Express . Nice , but not quite as nice as steam .

Mike

Well, I already have one of Alan Wright’s Grove smooth-siders, bought just before the price of shipping went through the roof, and the eventual custom’s duty bill with it - over a thousand dollars now, if you are interested - each. I’m also giving consideration to ordering two more of the AccuCraft day cars or maybe one more baggage car to make up a nine-car set that should look rather better than the present NYC USATrains consist - not that I’m ungrateful, you understand, to the owner of those nice silver cars. The Hudson hardly notices a short train like that - it has easily hauled a make-up of 22 cars and still blows the safeties while doing it. Our G1 maven, Dick Abbott, designs and builds some great boilers, that’s for sure.

A fellow G1-er here has a metallic letter-making device to enable me to name the named cars, of which there are three in the set.

Needless to say, one of them will be called ‘Mount Gleep’.

Quite enviable my friend . Excepting the duty payable .
