Trouble with "Pork and beans"

Has anyone noticed, that lately an average can of “Baked Beans with Pork”, seldom has any sign of pork in it ?

I know; some will say…bake your own beans, and add as much pork as you care to; but being single, and just occasionly enjoying a simple can of beans, has become a dissapointment lately.

It isn’t just the “No-Name brands” either. It seems “They” are cutting corners even with cans with premium brand names…

Shame....Shame.....

What’s a fella’ to do these days…all the fun is going out of life. !!!

My apologies to Canada Fred but the US Congress is currently using all the available supply of “pork” in the new trillion dollar stimulus package. This has created a world wide shortage thus reducing pork and beans to just plain ol’ beans.

Are the beans, just ordinary beans, or are the beans, Boston Baked beans???

The suspence is killing me…

Pork and Beans is cooked with a little bit of pork fat. Sometimes you’ll find it in the can. Susan told me why once, but I didn’t understand the explanation. Apparently, they’re awful if not cooked with a little fat.

I ordered an Egg McMuffin from McDonalds the other day. It had been several years since I had one. It was about half the size it used to be. They were originally the size of a standard english muffin. No more.
The packages in the grocery store…many now contain much less…even if the package is still the same size.
And I already griped about the propane tanks at the cylinder exchanges that have a capacity of 20 pounds propane…and are only being “filled” with 15 pounds.
The coffee companies started the trend years ago when the one pound can of coffee went to 15 ounces. I think they are about 11 ounces now.

Ah, beans.
My favorite.
There’s something really satisfying about a long drawn out fart.

Now my dear wife makes me take “Beano”.
She takes the fun out of eating beans.

I checked out Beano one time. I think the bottle was around $7.99.
You had to take one for something like every 10 pounds of body weight.
It would cost somewhere around $4 a meal.
The gas doesn’t offend me. I wasn’t about to spend $12 a day…for the benefit of everybody else

You know its sad when I can eat at Taco Bell for less money then I can cook at home. But what is realy sad is I get more food at Taco bell then I do at home.

Long live the bean baretto.

Thanks for the idea, Fred.

Last night, I made some Ham and Mutha’s. Folks who were in the Armed Forces in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s will know what I’m talking about. For the rest of you poor, deprived souls, it is Ham and Lima beans.(See, there is a railroad relationship here. ) I used a pound of dry Lima beans, and about 2 pounds of honey cured ham, along with mother’s secret spices.

It was lovely. Sorry, but we didn’t save any for you lot.

And Diana made him sleep in the shop with Gunny…
