Trolley project

Plastruct Plastic Weld, Bachmann plastic and styrene all played “nice” today. Progress was made on a much-stortened trolley.

Progress continues on the little trolley. /Yesterday I spent the day adapting a Northwest Short Line motor block to the trolley.

I want to build seats for this trolley. I searched the internet but didn’t have any luck finding anything I can make a drawing from. Has anyone seen anything? I liked the simple seats that were made for the Mister Rogers trolley but none of the pictures were good enough to recreate them.

We want pictures!

An x-rated trolley?

Sweet!!..So your putting ditch lights on it then!

That is a thought but they probably didn’t exist in the 1930s.

Ditch lanterns then

The interior won’t be done for its Fairplex run but it is undercoated and has a motor.

Cool Doug. John and I contemplating putting a trolly in as with all the buildings and such, we probably are going to have a small town established. Been looking around for one. Like the old days here in LA. Run it down the middle of the street! LOL!

I found the ditch lights but didn’t find a working headlight yet. Maybe I’ll make my own.

Mike, you should build your own Pacific Electric trolley for the layout. There are actually some running on the Fairplex layout in YouTube. I know I have some pictures.

I’m making progress. Here’s a photo that I took during it’s first run which got to be on the Fairplex layout in Pomona, CA. Now it’s back to the shop for interior work which includes a steam engine and seats.

Looks good Doug.

Mike bought a trolley carcass from Silver State Trains, lets see what it ends up as.

And I found a 1/24 plastic model of the same thing and got that too. Gonna bash the two and come up with one good one. But gonna paint it LA Red Car “Red”…

Maybe next year we can have a trolley race at Fairplex!

Has anyone seen a small vertical steam engine model? I want to subdivide the trolley and use half of it for the steam engine.

Maybe the boiler from a Bachmann “log skidder” donkey engine?

Ozark Miniatures has models of donkey engines.

Following Mik’s lede I tore into a Bachmann passenger car and started cutting on their seats. Then I got out the popsicile sticks and covered them after doubling them and gluing with 5-minute epoxy. This low-budget project is moving forward.
