Trolley build gets paint

I got a metal trolley body from Bob Thon(Robert’s Lines) he used to sell them a lot in standard gauge. He had this one body left that I got from him. I wanted to move it away somewhat from the tinplate ‘toy look’ so broke up the windows with some brass strips and made an interior by printing it out on paper, then laminating it. I installed it and the thin plastic with double sided carpet tape. Paint was Krylon cans of cream and maroon.

I cast/molded the side frames from a Bachman Trolley, USA motor block sits under it.

The wood slat seats are also paper printouts that I designed. They will be darker than this but I ran out of ink!

Neat. It’s amazing what you can do with a printer these days. What a difference.

That’s cool…I would like to eventually add a trolley line on my RR

Looks great.
Neat idea for the interior detail.

Project is about wrapped up, except for getting some decals made. Seats were made the same as the walls, designed them on the computer, using some pix of seat boards from the internet. Cut them out, then laminated them and attached them with double sided carpet tape, as I did the walls.

After these pix I finished the one spot on the wall and got it all wired up. One light does not work, so will get to that soon. I did find some good pix of the streetcar controls, so will make those and get some figures.

It’s been a week??
Anymore??

Yes–where’s the update?

Looks great Jerry. I love the printed details. I tried that a long time ago before I knew how to use programs like Photoshop and my results weren’t very good. You’ve inspired me to try again. My sign guy can print waterproof inks on vinyl. That might be a nice way to detail the interior of a building too.

That’s looking good Jerry… Nice work…

Sorry guys, here’s some pix of the trolley on it’s first outing to Don’s open house in Omaha(225 miles!) Don has a neat train station he made out of some thick plastic siding(never had seen it before). Front light was not working at the time, but otherwize it did fine.

Marty brought his USA Big Boy, it was GREAT!

All you need to now is build some catenary…

Lookin good.

Jerry, It looks like a PVC decking fascia board.

Not sure David, but sure was neat. He used the square sections of gridded flourescent light covers for the windows. Maybe Don will pipe in here and describe the building of it some.
