Nice Building !

I miss Yogi’s website. Great place for learning to kitbash with simple items found all around us.

I’ve been meaning to add this one to the list… Every time the family goes to the dentist, we always leave with a new toothbrush for each of us and a travel tube of toothpaste. After collecting a lot of them, and then recently cleaning out the closet (and getting rid of those with expired dates), I’ve used the plastic insert in the tubes of toothpaste for street lights…(you could also use the toothbrush for cleaning)

Great ideal, Thanks.

Great IDEA, Thanks

Here are a couple of building I made from recycling political poster board signs. The type you find in front of everyone’s yard during election season. I can hardly wait for the next election as I’m running low.

Gotta pile of those from two of my Dads campaigns…what did ya paint them with to cover the signage?

I have used that stuff for roofing - painted it with acrylics, which have held up well, except in a couple of spots where in winter, blowing ice shards seem to have scraped off the paint.
If I were doing it again, I’d try protecting the acrylic paint with a coat of acrylic varnish, which can be got in gloss, satin, matte, and ultra matte.
I bought some of the ultra matte to try it out. WAY too flat; kills all contrast and shine unrealistically and totally dead like the inside of a camera - don’t waste your money on that but regular matte is ok, as is satin in my opinion.
The material, called Coroplast, for corrugated plastic, makes great roofs. I score and remove a ‘v’ of the material from the underside of the roof’s peak, without cutting thru the top layer, then fold it down.
It’s waterproof, also seems to be highly UV resistant, painted or not. I understand it’s a kind of polycarbonate, which is inherantly UV resistant.

I used Krylon spray red primer, then sprayed with the final color needed. The primer did a good job covering the ad.

Good to know…I’ve been plotting structure construction for a couple years now…I even have the specail tool to cut it with thanks to Yogi helpful pointers…

civic elections happening all-round this region today !

Saw some nice big ones with white back sides …

p.s. yes I voted already no vote-no complaining allowed imho !!!

It’s too bad none of you guys live close. Boss Hogg at the sign shop decided today that we aren’t keeping small scrap pieces anymore. As soon as they empty the recycle dumpster it will be filled with coroplast, PVC sheet, composite aluminum sheet, aluminum sheet and acrylic sheet.

My basement is already full of the stuff so don’t ask me to save it until York!

Hey Jon- how about bringing some up to Buffalo the next time you come for a visit?!?!!!

Probably won’t be heading that way any time soon. My brother likes coming here. Costs me less to put him in the back yard motel (RV) and entertain him then to pull the thing 400 miles at 8MPG so he can entertain me!

Jon- Sure it’s cheaper, but chicken wings are much better, here!

Boy, if you brung it to the D&B you would have friends for life!

I usually start loading the car with left-overs about two weeks before ECLSTS. They get distributed in a feeding frenzy in the parking lot outside the Alcove sometime during the show to whomever is hanging around at the time. I never take anything back home :]

Another trick to add to the list is smoke fluid. I use the lamp oil you can buy at walmart. It will last you a very long time and cost less then buying a small bottle of smoke fluid. I just take the lamp oil a use a small bottle with a dropper. (I find the gas drop bottles for infants work great)

Hi from england…
I use baby oil in my smoke generator

on my lakes launch boat, works a treat. ÂŁ1 large bottle.
