Trees

SWMBO found trees at an even better price at a supermarket. Naturally that meant getting a few more AB spruce, two mungo pines and two junipers. Quality: a bit scruffier! That’s OK, need to be pruned in any case.

It’s raining, perfect to settle some of the stuff that was moved around this past week.

My weeds are growing fine without any help, and look great, plus the price is very good.

Fred,

What kind of weeds are they?

Not the kind BC is famous for, alas.

…all good stuff that makes the lawn look greener than grass…!!!

One place we lived, the yard had lots of bare spots where grass wouldn’t grow no matter what. Transplanted violets there and they did nicely. (I was 8)

A few years later at another bleak place, only my patch of marigolds grew. I suggested we just till up the whole yard and sow marigold seeds. Dad didn’t think that was practical.

There’s something to be said for team work! SWMBO started planting just as soon as I finished hauling the crusherchips, peat moss, topsoil mixture. Then she sprung it on me: “you know we’ll need a lot more of the stuff, time to go shopping!” Oh goody!

Anyway, it’s a start.

Real trees look scruffy anyway. The mountain looks good!

If that was my yard, the “forest” in the background would already be encroaching on the mountain, like Kudzu. With well above average rain the last month, the weeds have been out of control!

SWMBO got right with the program and planted a few things, which in turn allowed me to put the hay barn in its place. Still temp stone supports, real ones are in the works. They have to be the right size and in the right order to look right.
