Sheesh, doesnt surprise me…still too dam expensive and too dam big for my tiny layout!

Lets see, we have this GG1, LGBs GG1 at $4K, and Aristo’s GG1 that has been quietly euthanised before Lewis lost his shirt on it.

I really, really, really do not understand marketing logic in large scale. Particularly USA Trains, I mean a diecast $1.3K 0-6-0 switcher? and their 0-6-0T will be $700. I dont of anyone who’s forked out the coin for either of these. I guess they’re trying to compete with Accucraft, and not Aristocraft.

I swear I could make better choices. If USA could do the 0-6-0T in plastic for about $300 it would likely be a huge seller, I would readily consider one to convert to NG, or maybe we can convince Bachmann to rework the Indy into a NG 2-6-2T logger, yeah right.

Vic

I have wanted someone to make a nice plastic 2-6-2 Prairie for many years. And for my efforts I’ve gotten various versions of Mikados (MacAuthurs), Hudsons and Consolidations…for most with space restrictions the monster locos won’t work. …so they don’t buy them.

They even made a few 2-6-2s in Narrow Gauge too!

Vic,

If we could get the mfgs to listen, they would make better choices.

When they get down to $135 (and knowing TW they just might) I’ll take one just to sit on a siding in the museum. I don’t have any catenary nor do I plan any.

flatcar wth a generator and a BIG set of jumper cables?

For some strange reason I can picture that…

Verne, I had the same expectation for a Class A climax, never got one. The closest we got to a Prairie is the Heritage 2-6-2, I have the Buddy L (for lousy) version. While its a passable Prairie loco, its hardly a workhorse.

I have a book “Logging by Railroad” and there are SEVERAL 2-6-2T’s in it, so its not like there are no prototypes manufacturers could model.

I’m not holding my breath, I have a 2-6-0 LGB mogul block, and a Bachmann 3rd gen Annie block cut down to 0-6-0, one or both will be built into a tank logger.

I rode the trolley down in Lake Oswego, Or. a few years back. That's what they did. Towed a generator behind, due to lack of Catenary. :) :) jb

Sounds just like my battery car. :D

Sounds like a plan, Just as soon as they go under $200.

I’ll be seeing old and young Charlie in a few weeks at the Amherst Railway Societies “Big Train Show” in Springfield, MA this month. I’ll be working the Friends of the East Broad Top booth. Charlie has been known to have some amazing blow-out deals at this show. 2 years ago I missed a $100 New Haven GP-9 because I didn’t want to spend any money. Was mad at myself the whole way home. Now they are gone.
