Large Scale Central

Trainworld LGB Firesale

Dave,
discussion is allowed on this site and not heavily moderated as on the site you mentioned. However, one thing not tolerated is outright abuse and I feel that Hans was simply implying that there are those who prefer the protection a heavily moderated site allows and there are some who are willing to post their thoughts openly and possibly cop it on the chin, occasionally, on a more open site. No personal insult was intended and simply an observation. It is akin to someone leaving the confines and protection of their family home, for the first time and suddenly realise that the world is a big place.

HJ,

Why was that PPS, instead of PSS?

Because: “P.P.S.” (Post-postscript) is sometimes used to allow the letter writer to add even more thoughts after the first postscript. To continue, a third postscript would be a P.P.P.S. and so on, although these additions are rarely used in practice and would probably be deemed poor style."

And I just never run out of additional thoughts. Least of all in a brand new year. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tim, does the fact that I have posted a couple of times on MyLargeScale make you think I come from a sheltered site? I am simply trying to gather more info after Large Scale trains. Hans, if your comment about people leading a sheltered life is directed at me, piss off. You must have pretty liberal moderators on this site. Don't worry; I won't be posting aymore as some of the people here are just rude.
Hey Dave, welcome to LSC. :D As to the liberal moderators, it probably will be a surprise to you: there are no moderators. Bob is the Admin/Owner and apart from the occasional "DING" from him, discussions proceed at their own pace and in their own directions. Which takes some getting used to for some people, especially those who lead an otherwise sheltered life. BTW I have no idea if you do, would be hard to say after just two posts. ;) :D

Dave, Don't run off so fast. You'll miss out on all the fun. You might enjoy HJ's sense of humor.......if you stick around for a bit. Ralph

hj has a sense of humor?

Yep. A bit dry, best stirred, not shaken. Ralph

And there a a few on here who know how to stir him alright

Gulp… back to the original topic with my observation on loco choice and Trainworld’s pricing:

The “Santa Fe” version of the switcher offered at $150.00 is a very good price and a great running loco. It’s the 0-6-0 version of the four or five “dismal” variations offered by LGB. Others appear to be 0-4-0 (sorry about the steamer wheel wording) set up. I run ours for hours - one year old - and no problems. The pickups are friendly to not-so-clean track.

I have suggested this loco at Trainworld’s price to two newbies. I encourage others to do so.

P.S. Who started the “dismal” reference for diesel locomotives? My guess is the master of mirth in Washington, Dr. Goodson.

Egads; has our “Good Doctor” Goodson, “Gone to Washington” ?

What appointment, pray tell, has he accepted.....?

Ah, yes, expertise calls.
The man from the state of Washington took his call and now will be advising our newly elected on the “scale” of the federal government.

Wendell

Doesn’t LGB stand for Long Gone Bye !!! get the old stuff while youz can !!! hee hee

Aside from the diversion to Dr. Goodson (aka the ole’ Curmudgeon), and now I high-jacked my own posting, Jerry (above) is likely on-target: Buy LGB now or forget it.

The switcher is an excellent product – maybe 3-5 years old in production and well made.

W.

Sheesh Wendell, I can’t wait for the NEW RhB flat cars to show up, I really need a few of those! In as is and as nice start for a variety of the other types.

HJ-
True, I show my skepticism hoping for selected items from Marklin, with them in a nightmare even thinking of manufacturing 50% of the zillions of LGB products. I doubt the switcher will be continued on the premise those who wanted it bought it and the market is now too iffy to warrant regenerating production. How many paint jobs can that loco get? Of course there is the undying Mogul – did I say Disney? With sound no less (“It’s a small world, after all…”)!

Okay, aside from my guesses, any German translations you have mustered that tell us what Marklin will actually be bringing out as to locos and types of rolling stock - incl. the flat cars - in year 2009 and on?

Wendell

Wendell,
about three years ago, a particular representative of a now exinct distribution company, made a statement on a particular forum (not this one, of course) that if one wanted a Forney then be quick, as there would be few available in the future. This would have me believe, at the time that the model was being dropped from the lineup. At the time, the poster did not rule out the reintroduction of the F7A/B diesel. Unbeknown to most of us, the manufacturer was facing a very hard time, financially and shortly after, everything went belly up.

I also believed that the little switcher was being dropped from the range (cannot recall source of that info).

What a "hoot!" It is this somewhat wild and free forum that makes life worthwhile. I've taken it on the chin and also told others to go jump in the lake (or worse) but in the end it seems we all are striving for a common understanding. If we ever have moderators, I'm outta' here. Bob

If anybody should be a moderator it would be Hans !

Nope, can't do that. He'd be deleting Marvin's posts :D

HJ keeps running the newbies off. I don't think its anything he says. It must be the picture  Ralph

Why would HJ detele posts from Marvin?

Leaving them up shows exactly what a wan… Marvin really is.
