A few weeks back I received the latest GR magazine and started flipping through it and WHAT? No TrainWorld spread?? On another flip through I found a one page ad from them. I guess gone are the days of 4-5 pages of trains for sale but could they be going the way of ST Aubins? I thought.
Today I received a Email notice from Train World about them expanding their product lines BUT the new products are for smaller scales not for us large scale gents.
It is nice to know they are still there and in the business of selling trains.
What do you guys think?
Todd
I’m not too surprised, seams like all the major manufacturers have gone into Bunker Mode until the ecomony recovers. Piko is the only manufacturer thats consistently been offering new items. Bachmann’s only large scale offering this years seams to be in their Thomas lineup. LGB has been reissueing mostly old items and a few new items. I can’t think of anything new announced from Aristo or USA (no, I don’t count the Connie, that thing has been overdue for 5 years) maybe I missed a couple new freight cars but even long established items are not being stocked and vendors may chose not to stock anything due to the overhead costs. Its really been a desert now for oh, going on 3 years now. So I’m certainly not surprised their advertising is reduced, why advertise what you dont have?
“Bunker Mode.” That’s a good expression.
I’m there myself because I have enough projects right here on hand to keep me going for at least the next five years. I’m about to make a list of priorities, but in my head the other day I think I got to fifteen or so projects waiting for me to begin or complete. I think it would be very difficult to sell much of anything more than raw materials to me right now, and I have most of those on hand as well.
Only speaking for myself here of course…
They send me emails about every third day… should I forward them to you guys?
Mik,
Having ordered from TRAINWORLD, I get the e-mails. However, not all are for large scale products – and when, the ads are mainly for AristoCraft’s apparently slower selling products.
Suggestion: Anyone wishing hearing from TW daily, if not every third day, they can reach them and give 'em the go ahead to be on their e-mail list.
