Arlo Guthrie singing ‘City of New Orleans’ always sends a shiver down my spine and somehow tears me up. Dunno why…

Willie must like trains.
Here he does Jimmy Buffett’s and Jerry Jeff Walker’s “Railroad Lady”.

Lost in the recent utter failure of a hard drive and backup strategy, but a few years ago somebody made a beautiful video of “Long Train a Runnin’” with backyard trains. Totally unscheniced railway, but beautiful video production.

Josh does have a great voice.
The train metaphor is all wrong, though. That Train Ai’nt Bound For Glory, is it?
“Train’s Up In The Sky” by Mylon Lefevre and Broken Heart.
There are several gospel songs that use trains as a metaphor. Here are a few that come to mind…
Life’s Railway To Heaven
Ride That Glory Train
This Train Is Bound For Glory
I guess my favorite songs are the ballad of “Casey Jones” and “The City of New Orleans”. I grew up in Water Valley, MS. It was a division point on the Illinois Central Railroad in which Casey was an engineer until he took the engineers job out of Memphis. So I guess I am parcial to the IC.
