Large Scale Central

Trains Are For Kids ...

… no matter how old they are.

I just got home from the annual OKC Train Show and thought I would show you the next batch of large scalers we indoctrinated this weekend. Our local garden railroad club, the Central Oklahoma Garden Railroad Society (COGRS), sets up a modular layout several times a year at various local train and hobby shows. Unlike most groups who use barriers or high tables, we put our layout at kids’ height. We also show videos and slide shows of various garden railroads. Here are some of the photos from today’s crowd.

The wrecked engine in the pond was a big hit with the little ones.

Some of the parents had that “glazed eye” look, just like the kids.

Cool!!!

That’s the way to do it. Start 'em young. Most of us can recall watching Lionel and American Flyer trains in department store and hobby shop showrooms as kids.

Our club used to put up a large floor display at a Greenburg show in Ft. Washington. There’s be kids crowded around it all day long.
