My, my…WHAT a weekend! Many, many THANKS to Bob & Martha and Stan & Deb. There’s a LOT of work that goes into these events and it was just perfectly executed!
We got there early enough to relax with a glass of wine on their patio.
Martha showed off all the work they had done on the hillside.
We were there 2 years ago in August, but they have since changed the date to July as there is much more in bloom. The yard was absolutely gorgeous everywhere you looked. She has even “upgraded” the front yard, even though there isn’t any track there (yet). (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Here’s a shot of the layout that I took from the deck:
It is just about impossible to get the entire layout in view…Burke Yard is just behind the tents - wow is the sun ever hot there!
Anyway, Jean and I visit a bit at the Acton Arboretum, which is fairly close, then drove over to run some trains.
David had brought his gorgeous locomotive and it looked just great on this layout!
Ken was one of the first to take a train out as he made up his train in Franklin Falls.
Rooster was there, but NO sign of David Russell…
A little further back…and you can see Ken working Majestic.
Turn to one side and you get a great view of the house. Al and David Marconi were switching Pearce, while the saner folks sat in the shade…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Ken took his train to help Ric make it up the hill…
It sure looks like David Marconi was happy to be here!
So…Friday was run around and try to stay cool at Bob’s, while Saturday was the actual day of operations at Bob’s. Al also had an ops session on Friday morning, but we didn’t make it - sure hope to next year!
Sunday, we descended on Stan & Deb.
Another warm HOT day, but funny thing is you didn’t really notice WHILE you were running, but, wow…don’t stop, or you just might collapse!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)
I really messed up on this day! I took out my little camera and it told me that it did not have enough power to even open the lens…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cry.gif) Well, no problem, I guess I’ll use my phone - ack - I forgot to charge it last night and it is down to 9%…so I only got a few more pictures before IT died…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)
Jean found a bench in the shade near Sublette.
While Jean was relaxing, I toured a bit of the railroad.
I ran single handed out of Stiege…on the way to Reilly.
Before I could even leave, I had a meet with the Misty Flyer, operated by Jane and Ken.
Well…a very FUN weekend! Thanks to Bob, Martha, Stan & Deb for opening up your homes to us - we had a wonderful time!
