It looks like this got lost in the photos from TrainOps 2017, but there was a bunch of noise this year about moving TrainOps forward a month into the middle of July. Looking for opinions.

As a plus for July, Martha states the gardens will be a LOT more in bloom and that it is typically cooler as well.
And, now that July next year is “officially” open, I would enjoy going to Massachusetts on any weekend in July. I’m all for it!
Will Stan and Deb be able to do July as well?

Typically we get our heat waves (90+ for 3 or more days) in June and July. By mid August it is normally cooler.
Because of the heat, our July sessions are normally in the evening and we tend to take a vacation in the cooler places (like Alaska).
It is very true that Gardens are best in June and early July and we can have nice weekends as well so it is a trade off.
Lets see what Bob comes up with.

Middle of July may not work for me. I have mandatory Vacation the week of July 4 (7/1-7 next year) and may not be able to take more time that same month. 6-7-8 might work; 13-14-15 very iffy; 20, 21, 22 and 27,28,29 probably OK.

But I do plan on going up to Fred’s in July.
I also plan to go to Fred’s and then there is the Finger Lakes on the following Monday, but other than that I’d like to put it on the schedule. Bluestone Southern Ops are suspended, because of the heat in the middle of the Summer, so that’s not in conflict.
If your looking for open dates, how about the last weekend of July? That would be the 28th and 29th.

I’ll pencil in that weekend for now, and make it more concrete in the next month or so.

Yep, weekend of July 27/28/29. Still doing the Friday, anytime-after-noon run-what-you-brung.
