I gotta see BD’s, Dad’s and especially Stan and Debs place in person!

If and when you finally decide to un-glue your a** and get out of “Tombstone”, you’d be more then welcome to occupy the navigator’s chair in the mini van.

And apparently Ken needs a navigator - if only so he can avoid going to Springfield instead of Littleton. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Going North on I-91 was actually a good idea, but instead of getting back in the traffic on I-90, he should have kept going North to Rt. 2. We went home that way and avoided (most of) the mess on 90. We jumped off on 202 South to head to Palmer, MA to do some rail fanning and tried to stay on the 2-lane South and West around Springfield and Hartford, but screwed up and ended up at Bradley Field, so we just jumped back on I-91S to I-84W then got off at US 6W. Took that 2-lane West to Rt.8S to avoid the mess around Waterbury. Wasn’t any faster, but we kept moving and saw stuff we never see from the highway. Next year the plan is I-91N to Rt. 2W right to Bob’s. Just need to figure out where to grab I-91 to avoid Waterbury, of get there very early in the AM before the traffic builds up.

Looks like you guys had a good time. Bob’s layout and the gardens look really nice too. It would be fun to come out there, only a 24 hour drive. But if I did, the wife is going to make me take her to visit her family in New Bedford. That week in hell is good enough reason to stick to enjoying the event thru pictures.

Chris

Well Jon it looks like you need a navigator "Next year the plan is I-91N to Rt. 2W right to Bob’s. " if you do this your going to flow the old B&M and end up in Troy N.Y. you go east in Greenfield,Ma. to Bob’s, you can go north on 7 to rt. 2 or 7 to I90 east to I 91 north never seen I 90 bad going between Lee and I 91.

Richard

I feel that the Scottie dog did not get a fair share of the photo shoot!

( there was a Scottie there right?)

Ok. Who wore out the dog?

Just got home a short while ago. Here are a few of the photos from Saturday at Bob’s. I will post some from Stan’s layout a bit later. Nothing extra to report that already hasn’t been said about Bob’s fantastic layout, but Martha’s garden was beautiful! Only question is, “Why was Ken carrying around his caboose?” In a couple of the photos, you will notice that the Traveling Outhouse Award had been duly presented and placed on the layout in a downwind location.

Bob

More great photos, thank you for sharing.

Just fantastic!

Those pics give a great depth perception on the RR mass and height.

come on… Ok, I’ll do it myself. is the Scottie named Piper?

I miss my Scotties.

More photos for you folks who couldn’t be there. These are from Stan’s layout on Sunday.

Yes, Piper is our Scottie. She’s 13. We got her as a rescue when she was 8.

Jon, you are looking good, buddy. Congratulations on losing all the baggage. What’s your secret?

No secret. No special diet. Just measure and log everything - goal is under 2K cal/day and most days are under 1.7K. Doc sez don’t worry about anything but calories - the rest will take care of itself. I eat everything, just not as much of it. So far it’s working. Started about mid January. Once you get in the habit it’s really not hard and you realize you really don’t need as much food to be satisfied.

You ain’t kiddin! I got into Hartford and had a brainfart. Ended up on 91 instead of staying on 84 for some reason. Then in Springfield hopped on the MA TP to “Wooster” and had another brainfart. Stayed on 290 instead of getting on 190 and ended up on 495 in the middle of a traffic jam. And apparently I don’t have Bobs address entered in the GPS so that didn’t help .

As for the caboose, it needed the trucks tightened up a bit. It kept leaning and derailing. Had to find a screwdriver.

Richard you really have captured the hermit look!

Did Bob get lost … I think he’s calling Stan to find out were he is! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Heh. Ken and I were running a giant train downhill to empty out the upper part of the layout. I think we came down with 7 or 8 cars, and picked up for 2 or 3 more at Bat House Yard. We’re stopped here at the gantlet trakc, and I’m probably talking to the dispatcher to find out when I can move.

I don’t know Bob, every time I saw you, you had it against your ear were you listening to a game?

Thank’s Sean I work hard at that look.

Every site needs a resident hermit, and we have been too long without one! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Sounds like a cover up to me. It’s probably Fred calling to complain about proper punctuation on the forums while BD is trying to enjoy himself.

Ken looks pissed off like he always does.

I GREATLY appreciate the pics guys and would like to attend next year. However I only have roundy round Amtrash stuff in my arsenal.

Did you guys run at Al’s place as well?
