Thanks Bruce for the photos. Sure looks like a couple of great layouts. I’ll be retiring the 1st of October so maybe I’ll get a chance to get up there next year to see them in person.

Bob

Looks like a fantastic weekend. Sorry about the heat and certainly sorry we missed it. Hope to get that way in the Fall. Thanks for the excellent report, Bruce.

Plan on a couple of days for Stans. It’s kinda like hiking the Appalachian Trail with a model railroad beside it…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

That’s a LONG drive from OK, Bob! But, well worth the trip for us, that’s for sure. The hard time may be finding the time in retirement to do it. I’ve been retired for just over 8 years now, and my time seems more booked than ever before - I’m loving it!(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Looks like it was a great time, sorry we missed it but we have been spending just about every weekend getting our money’s worth out of our new camper.

A poor excuse Vincent. One of the best campgrounds in the Northeast is 2 miles from Bob’s house! But you already knew that, you’d just rather spend time with your camping friends then your train friends (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Isn’t the whole idea of getting involved in “Camping trailers”, a cheap way to visit outdoor railroads all over the place, on the cheap…? Why else would anyone subject themselves to pulling a trailer all over the place !!!

Well, I did it as a way of earning a living. But then the trailers I pulled weren’t the kind you set up housekeeping on (in).

Unfortunately Fred, If you want nice private campgrounds it is no longer cheap. Between the extra gas to pull it (at 8-10MPG Vs 20+MPG solo) and the rates for highly rated campgrounds, we could stay in motels for the same money, But I really enjoy the camping experience I and I know all the germs and dirt are mine (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

Now, if you can deal with no connection for water or electricity, the state parks are much less expensive. We will try our hand at this “dry camping” this fall, once the nights cool down to where open windows are enough cooling.

Thanks for the ordered pics Bruce. it helps with the mental picture of BD’s layout.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

We had checked the campground but they didn’t have enough sites available for all of us, and no full hook up sites left at all. Maybe next year when we will be able to plan better in advance, the camping thing has been a lot of fun!

OK - You get a pass (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)They were very low on sites when we booked 3 weeks early - and no full hookups then either. The place is very popular. Best to book 2-3 months in advance if possible. I waited because I wasn’t sure I could get the camper together in time.
