The JMRI program will determine if the cars are Loaded (L) or Empty(E). When you’re setting up the program you add the weight limit to each car. I usually set this as 20 tons. Most of the time I don’t really care whether it’s loaded or empty, all I care about is where it’s going. But the program will keep track of it. It’s shows on the manifest the weight of the train with all the cars, (6 cars: 4 loads, 2 empties) so you can determine which engine to use.

I’m pretty sure Bob thinks it’s real tons - counting all the rocks and dirt he moved.
