We’ll miss you guys too, but it wouldn’t be any fun for either of you if Jean was uncomfortable. There’s always next year!
On the bright side, there will be more beer to go around for the rest of us

Bruce, Hope Jean’s recovery gets her feeling much better and quickly…
Bruce you definitely have your prioritizes correct! Jean was such a trooper coming all the way to Ottawa just days prior to her operation. While we will miss you both you are wise to not take any chances until Jean is 100%. Looking forward to seeing you both in York in March.
We’ll miss you guys. Hope Jean heals well.
TrainOps 2014 is only a few days away. Ops software is being tweaked to provide a bit of variety. This year looks to be the largest yet.
Paul, Doug and I are are considering going home on Monday via Portland and the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Company & Museum. They have an extensive web site but it doesn’t doesn’t tell you much about the Museum. Has anyone visited it or do you have other suggestions. Our normal route takes us up Interstate 89 towards Montreal but some deviation is possible.
Stuart,
Do not know if you will even find them open on Monday. I think the operation is strictly sat/sun. that said most of the cars etc. are outside and can be accessed. there may be a security presence as they recently had a bunch of windows broken in a couple of there cars. there is a bike walk path immediately adjacent to there track.
do not know how early you are coming but a few guys are coming out to my place Friday morning in Winchester NH and you are welcome to join in. I am about an hour west of bob on rt 119. you could come down I-91 to get here then go cross county. let me know and I will get you more details.
Al P.
Can’t decide what loco to bring so I’m charging everything! Plan is to hit the road before 10AM on Thursday - stop in Sturbridge MA for gas & lunch (or is it the other way around) and get to the campground a little after 1.
Al thanks for the invitation but it’s about a 7+ hour drive to Bob’s . We will leave at 7 AM, by the time we check into the hotel and drive to Bob’s it will be close to 4PM assuming no delays at the boarder.
I called the museum They open at 9am on Monday, first train is at 10.
Do you three have to be home Monday, Tuesday…?
Maine Narrow Gauge on Monday
Then leave for North Conway to see 2 beautiful RR stations-1 in N. Conway itself, and the 2nd at the top of Crawford Notch. Stay overnight nearby for the Mt Washington Cog Railroad. You’ll want to take the steam powered version that leaves at 09:15.

In nearby Lincoln NH is a tourist RR inside an amusement park, BUT the train goes through an authentic Howe Truss Covered Bridge moved to the site from here in Vermont: http://www.clarkstradingpost.com/attractionsTrain.php
Ever been to a granite quarry? If you are in Lincoln, take route 302 west towards Barre, VT
THEN you can go back to Ottawa. We can talk about lunch in VT or something once you know your schedule.
Well, Jane & I hit the road in about 20 minutws… Hope to see you all on Friday…
We’re finalizing food plans/cost for the weekend. Latest calculator work thinks Saturday lunch (cold cuts, etc) will be $5/person, Saturday dinner (spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic bread) will be $10/person.
Friday dinner will be order-in pizza, depending on how many stick around for dinner.
Looking forward to the weekend.

You guys are in trouble now. I’m going to try my hand at dispatching at Stans on Sunday.
I take bribes.
Give me priority over other trains and I won’t tell where your buried the bodies of former LSC troublemakers!
Thanks for the information Don. We will definitely see the stations at North Conway and Crawford Notch as they are on our route home from the museum in Portland. Mount Washington and Lincoln will have to wait for next year unless there is a major change in our schedule. See you Friday.
Please note that Massachusetts has a sales tax holiday this weekend so spend away.
