Yes, I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

We are going to try to make both Saturday & Sunday, should be fun, plus I need to get some ideas for plantings and what not for my own railroad.

Just got the approval for time off on Friday. I kinda wanted to work at least a half day Friday as I’m out of vacation time, but the boss said take the day (without pay is assumed). The joys of being called a salaried employee but paid by the hour.

So it looks like I might make the Friday session after all.

Wow! TrainOps 2013 is only 16 days away!

Jean and I are really looking forward to this - it is always a great time.

You know that “Bucket List Stuff”, well this is on mine. THEY drug me back to the heat of the Midwest, this year. But next year is starting to look like a possible by extending the Invasion time. The idea of moving the day to August, has increased the possibilities.

Interesting. You know, there is a 5 star campground about 10 minutes from Bobs house (Boston Minuteman Campground) and a mile or so down the street is an industrial park with big lots to park your rig. I wouldn’t camp there, but we used it on Sunday so we could check out of the campground on time.

Fifteen days and counting to TrainOps 2013.

For those of you still confused, TrainOps is an annual even where any LSC members can come by my RR and operate.

Reposting the schedule:

Friday, Aug 16. Run-what-you-brung. Anytime after about noon, show up and run your trains. No formal operations session, this is more a “Get some cool pictures, and find bad spots on the trackwork that Bob hasn’t spotted yet” day. If you want to stay for dinner/bullshirt session, we’ll probably order pizza.

Sat, Aug 17. Operations day. Starting about 9, we’ll be setting out cars, and running trains. I run two trains in each direction, with two-man crews. This year I’m also experimenting with having a yardmaster make up the trains. So figure a maximum of 10 people operating at one time. Trains are all run as extras, no dispatcher. Meets are verbally agreed, or, in the event of a conflict, rock/paper/scissors will be used to determine priority. We’ll run trains as long as we can keep going. Lunch will be provided for $5/person, consisting of cold cuts and associated salads and condiments. We’ll break for dinner whenever. No formal dinner planned, but last year we got a table at a nearby (10 minutes) restaurant that Martha and I go to a lot.

Sun, Aug 18. Operation at Stan Ames’ SJRP layout. As in previous years, we’ll be operating at Stan Ames’ gigantic SJRP layout in Chelmsford (about a 20 minute drive from here). You owe it to yourself to see this layout. Its very fun, laid back operations, with radio dispatching, and car-cards. Even if you dont operate, come here for the WOW factor.

An update on Sunday

As in the past we will hold a normal operating session in conjunction with TrainOps.

We plan to open around 9AM with Operations starting at 10AM.  A pot luck lunch will be held sometime between 12 and 1.

We operate with 2 person crews and have both long distance and shorter wayfreights or locals.
The Bat Yard and the Dispatcher positions will be filled with our normal crew unless someone really wants to work these positions.

We can accommodate guest locomotives as long as they have insulated wheels (we are DCC track powered).  All our rolling stock has Kadees and most all the assignments have switching at some point or another.

Look forward to seeing folks soon.

Deb and Stan

Would be nice to make the trip, but not this year… Hope the weather is good, and you all have a great time…

Drat. Will be up in N.B. Canada, but will think of you all when I’m partaking in the cool suds!!!

Have fun and we want pics!

Vic don’t have to much fun!

Sean

Wishing you all a great time!

Someday, someday. Its just too far of a run from South Dakota.

Looks like great weather for this weekend. I’ve heard from about 10 people that want to operate, and several that are coming by to look. Should be a good weekend.

We’ll be running operations using JMRI manifests. Apologies for any odd trains while we work through the kinks.

Locomotives & Battery Packs charged and packed up last night. Cleaning the sign shop today grabbing some throw-away PVC to bring. Car gassed up, tires rotated and minor repairs done. Getting out of work early today, stop at the beer store then hook up Arvy and load up. Hitting the road by 10 tomorrow. At the Campsite by 1:30 - railroad by 3.

Bringing a Junior Engineer I borrowed from by BIL.

I am thinking 11’ish on Saturday we should be there (just on lookers)
We are working until 3am on Saturday so we will need some sleep before heading up, but Bob’s place is only a hour drive for me so it shouldn’t be to bad.

The only battery we will need to charge will be the one in our camera

My jruy duty is still going through tomorrow. Martha will be here, but I could be as late as 5pm. Most of you know your way around the rr and where the beer fridge is…

There all guilty, case closed!

Sounds good Bob. My “get out of work early” card was revoked too. Just got home to dinner at 9. We won’t push the departure time so we don’t arrive too early.

Jon you got to get there on time to help take Bobs place till he gets home
Richard

Ken is up to the task!
