Pretty cool.

Nice - Might have to stop there tomorrow. I’ve got a 20% coupon needing to be used.

Just bought one. If you have a Harbour Freight near you, the deal is much better than on line. I paid $8 bucks including the 20% coupon. The clock face is just a glued in piece of paper. I wonder how it will hold up to the sun’s UV rays? I guess 8 bucks isn’t a bad gamble!

Spray it (the clock face) with a clear spray paint with a UV inhibitor. And then try to find a shady place to put it. Take the clock in when you are not running with friends. Buy three. Take a photo of the clock face, print it on adhesive vinyl, then use the spray paint with the UV inhibitor.

There is always a way.

I got one similar to that a few years ago for Christmas. Clock on one side, thermometer on the other. Worked OK during the summer, clock keep poor time once the weather turned cold. On mine it’s necessary to disassemble it, not only to change batteries but to set the time as well. It ended up inside in my work room where it’s wrong half the year.

Batteries don’t work too well in the cold… :frowning:

I don’t have a coupon to use, but I’ll have to get one of those clocks…
If it gets too cold out I won’t be outside to look at it anyway…
Steve I’ll do that.spray the clock face and maybe seal it from the weather to.

I was gonna say “Harbor Freight Koopins are EVERYWHERE!”

Spraying the face with UV spray is a great idea. Getting to the clock face involves removing some force fit cheesy metal clips. You know I’m gonna break something! BTW- there are 2 clock faces, so you need 2 batteries. In the winter, the clock will be twice as wrong. Does that change the whole ‘garden railroad time space continuum’ thing? If the clocks run slow, will my trains always arrive too early? Have I missed the boat?

No, but the train just left the station. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmmm… Two independent clocks. Set one for Standard, the other for Daylight  Simulate the passing of time from one side to the other… Label on NY the other LA… Possibilities are endless.

SWMBO went to visit family in Pensacola, went to HF for me to pick up the clock. When she called to tell me she had acquired the clock, she relayed that when she got there, the shelf price was $14.98, and it rang up at $9.98. I told her to go back and get another.

Picked up one today. $7.99 with the 20% coupon. Got it unpacked and was surprised to find the bracket and clock housing made from metal, not plastic. Everything is little crooked, but with care I might be able to e get the clock to hang straight.

Thanks Jon!

You are welcome David. I'm glad they took it since it was not an "official" printable coupon. I had the same idea about the face. I was going to putz around in Illustrator to see if I could come up with a similar design for the hour/minute legends.

Be careful if you spray the clear plastic. I had the bird clock I got from there and sprayed the face to protect it and the spray crazed the clear plastic - was supposed to be a plastic safe paint. Try an edge first to be sure it does craze on ya.
