Large Scale Central

Train Show Find

Went to the Greenburg Train Show in Atlanta on Saturday. Was getting ready to leave and took one last walk around before leaving. Forund a booth that had a lot of LGB stuff.

I spotted a couple of tubes of LGB rail with 20 pieces per tube, some new and some slightly used. Asked the dealer how much? We said the 2 tubes and a box of 50 LGB tie strips and a single rail bender was $150.00. I said sold before he changed his mind. That is less than $1.25 per foot.

Seem he was at an estate sale in California to buy another scale of trains and the wife said he had to take all the LGB stuff also. The dealer did not know anything about LGB or Largescale. Another member of our club saw a new Aristo U25B with a price of $95 and bought it, to his surprise the dealer also gave him a new Boxcar.

Nice! You never know what treasures you will find at train shows.

Dennis áin’t you glad you had one last look around

Nice find

Yup, you got a steal there.

Most Greenburg shows here don’t have much LS anymore, but 2 shows, or maybe it was 3 now, one dealer had a a small bunch of Aristo boxcars he was letting go of for like $30 or $35 each. I have too many already, so I didn’t buy any. But the deal you fell into, I would have jumped on, even though I don’t currently need anymore track.

Train shows are where I get all my G scale loco’s and rolling stock. You can find some good deals if you know what to look for. I have three shows in a row in January. Now if I could get some cash I’ll be all set.

Louis, then you are lucky. Since Starr Hobby quit coming to the Burgh, large scale picking have been rather slim at the Greenburg shows. I have nabbed a Bachmann coach, a n Aristo caboose and a boxcar or two over the past few years, but not much else.

My shows are in Atlanta GA, Deland FL, and back home in Savannah GA. The Deland and Savannah shows are 2 days.

We had a small all scale show in Roseville, CA last weekend. Our club set up its electric modules; the Club also consigned 9 LGB cars and sold six of them for between $30 and $40. Since the table rental is only $60, we’re thinking of taking a table and bring 30 or 40 of the Club’s recent donations and consignments.

There are bargains out there, but our members have about all they need, so we need to look to non-members.
