Yep. I remember watching a UP freight going by out in the desert several years ago. Heard a strange noise getting closer and closer… turned out it was a long section of metal strap, the kind they used to hold lumber in place, being dragged along the side of the train. Anyone standing too close would likely have been badly cut, at least.
