Train Ops 2013 Picture thread

Very nice photos, but can any one put names of the people shown in the photos?

Some of us out on the West coast are not able to, guess put some names to people running trains and around the layout.
Looks like a great time and very nice organize layout to run on.

I never got to see this train leave the yard!

Any chance you left that engine behind?

That happened while you were stuck in traffic…

Take it from me, Vince, …not a chance.

I knew I should have had Penny distract Bruce so I could have hidden the engine!

Great pics Vincent and Bruce! Sorry I missed it.

Just a couple of comments after looking @ photo’s!

1: What no train wreck this year?? Or did you pay off Vincent?

2: Stan and Deb need buildings so the cars have a destination!

Thanks for all the great pics!

Sean

Sunday rolled around and we headed over to Stan and Deb’s place, after a nice stop for breakfast at Paul’s Diner.

It is really an amazing railroad. They had a going out of business sale at a local nursery and they bought hundreds of plants - marked down to $3 a piece!

Here you can see some of the hostas at Devil’s Gate.

And the bridge at Lake Sarah Jane just past Day Lily Junction on the left.

The lake has some new fish after a Great Blue Heron discovered take out.

Jean and I took out the Hosta Valley Local as our first train.

This time, we brought my Shay and Jean enjoyed being the engineer. It’s a short route, but it has a bit of switching. We’re just passing through Sandbox Junction.

Our next train was from Solitude to Deck.

Solitude is located near the end of the railroad and is high up on the hill. Luckily this is a down hill route, but we do have to climb the hill to get there.

We take the Shay up to Solitude and get our waiting train.

Leaving Solitude, we see Vincent recording the activities.

And this looks like the picture Vincent was taking.

A nice run.

I may have the names a bit off, but I hope you get an idea of the shear size of this railroad.

Of course, Stan doesn’t think the railroad is quite big enough, so he’s busy working on an extension.

Jean wanted to take a break, so Al and I took the next train - CHSL - Chama to Solitude. It’s a long run as you go from the lower end of the railroad to the top. Your legs feel it!

We took a K-27 and picked it up in Chama. Here we are at Windy Point.

After passing through Cumbres the railroad goes through Whiplash Curve.

Passing through Stiege

Through Cascade on the way to Sublette.

On the way to Mosquito Junction.

And to Hidden Valley

Waiting on the siding near Mount Jon. We were waiting to get into Bat House Yard.

Where just about everybody was waiting as it is the main gathering place with lots of trains running.

Ken is also waiting, not noticing the yard engine coming up on his waiting locomotive. I don’t think it was a BIG crash…

After we finally got through Bat House Yard, we cross the bridge over Lake Sarah Jane.

I don’t have any more pictures up to Solitude - as those were in the previous post…just going the other way.

Thanks to Stan and Deb for hosting another great event.

That is one impressive RR. I have to get up their and see it. Amazing photos.

That was Friday afternoon. A run-what-ya-brung, get acquainted with the layout, and check out all the changes day…

Bruce got his boxcab out, grabbed a few cars and took them for a spin, then I grabbed the same cars and and went in the opposite direction. Don’t worry, Bob missed it too, he was still on jury duty…

As for Stan’s layout, Bob and I ran 2 trains, one from upper deck that was a short one, then another from where we left off to Solitude. At one point we stood in one spot for about a half hour, just watching the train thread its way around the the many loop backs and cross-overs. By the time we got to Solitude, I felt like we had hiked the Appalachian Trail…my knees still feel it…

Great pics everyone. This hast to be the best documented TrainOps ever!
