Some of you may remember me taking pictures last fall of the section of original Allegheny Valley (ex-Pennsy) line being re-laid between Kiski and Logansport. They sure are… different. Close up they look like sections of highway guard rail. As one guy noted, the finished track resembles overgrowed Lionel 0-27 with the 3rd rail removed
On my trip to Africa in 1995, I got a chance to railfan th KR a bit near Kijabe (along the edge of the Rift Valley) … the ties on that line were very like those in your photo.
