I generally lay my track on a good base of crusher fines/rock dust/whatever-its-called-in-your-neck-of-the-woods. It works great, for the most part, but lately Im thinking of adding some 1x6 PT underneath the curves to keep them in alighment, I was pondering making a baseboard just as wide as the ties, in a smooth curve, and attaching the track to that. Then my curves wouldnt have the tendency to kink out.
