Trackwork on the NVRY

Bob McCown said:

Since I’m rebuilding some more trackwork from Williamsport, past Pearce, and down to Majestic, I figured Id re-purpose this thread into a rebuild thread.

Here’s a couple switches I just got from Robby. A #8 (probably for the siding at Pearce) and a #4 for a spur near Majestic

Bob

I look forward to seeing the improvements. Hopefully the tunnel clearance can be increased a little

Its fun to see the improvements we are all doing to our railroads.

This spring we are finially getting the gauntlet in.

Stan

NVRY department of over-engineering is in the process of daylighting the Pearce Tunnel, due to instability of the overburden. MOW crews were busy west of Majestic building a spur to get a new customer online.

Great, another spur… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

You say that like its a bad thing

Before the rain drove us in, I managed to get most of the track in place for Majestic.

Still to do is relining the branchline down the hill toward Oakhill.

What happened to Majestic Coal? (Did it float away???)

Still in the shed so it won’t be in the way.

So, it will be back. That’s good. I see you have one of the neatest “kits” out there - the smokestack! Adds a lot of atmosphere…

Oh. Like the boat my grandfather built in his basement.

One of three “still good enough so Ill just rebuild instead of replace” switches for Pearce.

A quick-and-dirty ballasted deck girder bridge for the eastbound approach to Dead Rooster Gulch. It’ll eventually have proper concrete footings and wing walls.

And a shot for Fred, showing that it will have proper guard rails.

Looking good, but before you commit to that alignment you better get out the 45 Ton clearance gauge and check it !!!

Bob, in the last pic i notice the changing distances between rail and guardrail.

why did you make it so?

I think YOU need to be there on August 5!

I’m pretty sure we will be there; If we decide to come back from Denver in July.

So that area did a 180 from what it used to was…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Yes, the area has changed more than a bit. It started off as just a platform in 2010

Once TrainOps 2010 rolled around it looked like it belonged…

Still looking similar in 2011.

A bit more of a foundation in 2013.

We missed 2014, but here’s what it looked like in 2015.

Shut up Rooster!
