I guess we’ll find out in Sept. if the clearance problem has been corrected…

Bob, is that PT wood? The PT wood we have around here looks different. It had depressions every few inches. Where did you get that wood? Big box store or specialty store?

Yep, standard PT lumber that’s available everywhere from Lowe’s to the local lumber yard.

Steve, do you have a pic?

Bob, it’s looking good

Is it done yet?

Between vacation, and the 100+ degree temps, its taken me a while to get the rest of the benchwork done at Williamsport, but I finished it this morning while it was still 90! Here’s the new benchwork looking toward where the float bridge and car ferry will be.

There’ll be another RH switch splitting the spur into two. The passing siding here will get moved over a bit since we have the benchwork for it. Those of you that were here last year know there was a clearance issue on this runaround.

Hi Bob. I’m not sure about the car ferry bit… How is that going to work? Are you going to put in a pond and a ramp to it, or how does that work? I don’t have one, so I have to ferry stuff across the bay with a 4 foot barge with a R/C crane on it. Works with my R/C tug.

So how are you going to install it?? Just not seeing how you are going to do it… Any drawing of what you are installing? Just old guy here and mind not seeing or working I guess here… Noel

No pond, just a float bridge something like this

and a car barge:

Nice bridge Bob, scratchbuilt? As far as operation is this how your rr receives it’s interchange cars?

Not my bridge, thats an HO one that was at a show. Going to build something similar.

This will be one interchange place, yep.

Izzat gonna be a handle so you can carry cars to the shed?

Got the base of the car barge done. Now for the pseudo-hull, decking, and details.

Hmmmm. for sumpin that big, yer gonna need at least two handles.

Looks good, waiting to see the system you come up with to mount it. Will it stay out for the season or be put away between sessions?

No, it’ll come in between sessions.

I’m pondering a center pin on the ‘front’, and two medium-duty springs on the ‘rear’ corners. Gotta load it evenly, you know!

Yea, I caught wind of that and I’m waiting to see the results.
You will have safty nets around the float right.

What a neat idea!

Soooo ric…that side of the garage at Fiddle…

The thought is there. That would allow me to move a barge load of cars in and out without unloading and prevents me from having to cut another hole in the house and build a bridge 40 inches high to watch you guys try to do the limbo under, while you are stepping over the lower bridge.

Bringing this thread back. I’ve added more details to the car float.

and some more bulkhead work along the shore.
