Got some ballast down and one leg of the wye level.
Edited for typo
and one keg of the wye level.
I’ll drink to that
Great minds drink alike.
Cheers

Wye ballasted as far as I can get now. Continuing around the corner, need to finish the rockwork here before I add fill and ballast. Majestic Colliery will go a couple feet past the end of this track.
Bob, nice progress on the second keg!
(ok, sorry…)
Your drainage looks well planned, I’ll look forward to seeing how it stands up to a serious storm. I’m sure it’ll do well. How did you line your drainage tunnels?
The border rockwork is excellent; it looks like you’re mortaring all that, right?
Anyway, this new section is starting to look like it’s been there forever, a natural feature allmost. Wonderful job.
Gosh Bob;
I think you really need to put a keg near the end of one leg of that wye (for the train crew and any thirsty passengers), and maybe a hog’s head - just for the train’s hogger! It’s looking great.
Best, David Meashey
P.S. Of course, I would prefer a keg of birch beer, but I’d settle for root beer (Snoopy can’t be wrong)!
Stepping stones and ballast done at the wye.
Temporary track at the mine end to figure grade.
And the new box supports for the existing mine.
Is that dill next to the lily’s or is it ornamental grass ?
This looks great, Bob! Your plan for drainage (if I remember correctly) intrigues me. The cast viaducts are an awesome touch.
A bit of rock and mortar work today. Have the ‘corner’ done and the first row of stone for the supporting wall. Another couple of hours worth of work this weekend and Ill be able to backfill it and get it ballasted.
Looks great. I forget; is the new coal loading facility (with the conveyors & bridge & etc.) going into this new leg somewhere?
The plan is to have the old colliery at the end of the spur here on the wye. It should fit…
That’ll be awesome. I look forward to mismanaging a train there someday.
Some more rock work, and hauled a bunch of fill. Getting there.
And the ballast crew is quickly following…
The colliery should fit right here, just between the wall and the first trestle pier.
What to do on the hottest day of the year so far? Move dirt and rocks and ballast! That’s enough for today, but I have the siding down to the point where I need to move plants and get the colliery location settled. But I could theoretically run ops and use the tail.
Today I worked in the basement along with Phil Johnson And Ron Bart, re routing the Baseboard hot water system over the top of the roundhouse, so that it doesn’t show. fortunately everything went according to plan and there were no leaks in the first pass. cooler down there but still hot enough today.

Ran the track geometry car (i.e. the widest locomotive I have, the 45 tonner) on a caboose hop down the new trackwork. One close clearance that I need to cut a bit off a rock, but otherwise it went well.
Looks fantastic Bob.
